A little fun fact is that Bad Bunny broke one of the production companies in my country because they went all out and they couldn't recoup the cost when he was touring with Un Verano sin Ti. Like I mentioned, this is never a "I hate LATAM I'm not going there" issue exclusively. Like, quite literally, Peru could have said no to Gaga because it wasn't a financially sound decision for them. They could have tried but ultimately decided it was too risky. Or maybe they said yes but asked for too large a cut of the ticket sales and Gaga said no. Or in Costa Rica's case, the artist has to forfeit around a total 30% of the profit to taxes, cause we have a law that all public events must fund the national theatre, so that fee is mandatory. Then if the concert is held in the capital city where the stadium is, then there is an additional fee that goes to the local province government. Maybe Gaga said yes, and then when she saw the taxes they said no. Or she was okay with the taxes but once you deduct 30%, and then the local company asks for 50% to recoup costs, she would end up with just 20% and that can be too low a profit for her or her team. Some countries are viable, others are not that easy to make happen. Which is why negotiations are rough and not a "Gaga hates latam and they just treat us differently because they are not interested in us" issue. The mere fact they started negotiations with these countries categorically disproves the lack of interest. I'm well aware of how the rest of the world see us, its sad, and just like you, I wish I didn't have to pay thousands of dollars on a plane ticket and hotel to see Gaga, but its what we have to do until the market becomes less risky. Not all countries will rise up to the task at the same time. I'm happy Mexico and Brazil are starting to, and I'm excited that larger artists are coming there. Hopefully in the next years Argentina and Chile will consolidate even further to match them, and in a decade or so smaller Central American countries will too. Once again: she could tour in Latin America just the same way she is touring in Europe. After all, she isn’t performing in every European country either. Another thing is that you can’t compare the scale and therefore the decision-making power to afford big tours of Bad Bunny and Lady Gaga. In fact, it’s more than fair that Latin American countries charge these taxes so they can invest in local culture, unless you want us to continue with a colonial type relationship. The dime store gaslighting of it all. Look, the fact that he’s Latino doesn’t invalidate my opinions—which aren’t just my own—about how Americans and Europeans view Latinos. I stand by all of them. It’s not an insult if it’s the truth, but it’s pretty ironic and dishonest to hear Americans and Europeans complain about facing prejudice from Latinos, while we can’t even step foot in certain places without risking being thrown in a cage or sent to El Salvador. I never said him being Latino invalidated your opinion. Your opinion was invalidated by the fact that you unloaded a series of assumptions apropos of nothing that was said by anyone in this thread. Again, if you want to continue to paint with broad brushstrokes and go on tirades accusing the people of being racist or throwing childish insults at people because you came into the conversation with a bias you wanted to confirm, be my guest. I’m just stating that it’s ironic that you claimed that other people were being racist or prejudiced towards you when you were the only one attempting to stereotype or insult other people based on their country of origin or ethnicity. I still hold the same opinions. It’s possible that, by chance, they don’t apply to every American or European, but you know that for many of you, they do. Maybe that’s a generalization? Sure, but what’s the problem with me generalizing about you for once? We’ve been dealing with this every day for at least 300 years—see how unpleasant it feels? Again, doing it against someone who is not being prejudicial towards you doesn’t really do much aside from appease personal grievance. If you want to be petty and generalize about people that aren’t being racist towards you, again, be my guest, but spare me the self-righteousness when you’re clearly just doing it to let out pent up aggression. TimotheeChalamet 6,316
I'm positive the Mayhem Ball will end in Madison Square Garden. San Siro in Milan is pretty booked for the summer and it will also host football matches, so unless she is planning on touring in late August or September, more Italian dates are impossible. Also, I really would like to see some sources mentioned, at least there would be some kind of evidence. Yaaaas Gaga 1,180
I think this thread needs to be closed for risk of WW3 starting and a new thread opened for those that are actually interested in rumours about the potential additional European leg next year. 5 3

Look, I don’t want to go on because I’ve already realized that most people don’t want to understand, but I need to clarify one thing, stop saying that she did a free show for us in Brazil. We didn’t pay, but she did get paid, in fact, the sponsors and local government covered the cost of the production. I’m clarifying this because it makes it seem like she did the show out of love. As for what we wanted beyond that, well, how about this, since you’re also Latin, let’s make a deal, on her next tour, she can do a promotional show in Europe and leave the 50 dates for the region. You talk as if we were ungrateful for her doing a show after 10 years, but the Miami audience was furious because she rescheduled a single date due to health issues

Yes, a historical relationship between Americans and Europeans with Latin Americans, marked by prejudice, stereotypes, and violence, in which the erasure of the region from cultural events is just the tip of the iceberg, it’s a personal trauma.
