Omegahedron 194
If I'm going to wade in I will come with the critique to begin with. I think the lyrics are perhaps a bit lacking in some places. It's perhaps what a true Dance album requires (as opposed to Pop). And it's in some ways a harder listen because she was clearly so much more unhappy in life when she wrote and recorded it. There are at least a couple of skips for me (Plastic Doll, 1000 Doves album version). The Chromatica concept isn't as well developed as I would like but I blame the pandemic on that. And I think it's this which gives it a bit of a flat, lethargic feeling now listening back after Mayhem. But I did and do love it. There's great songs in there (Alice, Replay, Rain on Me, Babylon, 911, Enigma) and I do love the conceit of using an upbeat album to explore such challenging feelings. I think 911 is one of her best videos. It's a worthy entry into her catalogue and I still listen to it regularly now. zzbrandon 109
should be 4 act like rosalia's lux, chromatica is a concept album but too thin, it should be with a space rock opera movie....it should this generation's The rise and fall of ziggy stardust
uglysexy 136
I liked it then and I love it now. Something about it draws me in idk. Sometimes I still hear Rain on Me at the mall or the pub and I just want to keep listening For me it's a beautiful album even if Gaga wasn't in a good place when making it. It has a few tracks I'm not super crazy about (Plastic Doll or Enigma) but as dance tracks they still slap.
Lady Polonia 3,009
It is brilliant album. Without pandemic it would have do as great as Mayhem (if rumours regarding ultra marketing scheme for the Chrimatica were true). vanish into you 🥀🖤

Chromatica was actually more successful, it just didn't have a DWAS typa hit attached to it

MOT 3,219
I love the album and it always lifts me when I go back to it. There is a somewhat bizarre disconnect between the bright, colourful sound and the dark lyrics, but never mind, it's the ear candy I'm after, and the beautiful voice makes a lot of beautiful sounds on Chromatica. Production could have been better ? Oh ... ok, yeah, can't argue. No skips for me, but Stupid Love and Sour Candy are closest to the trapdoor. Free Woman and Plastic Doll are my favs.

But at least there are proper choruses unlike Chromatica... which is is mainly beat drops. The best part of any Gaga song is the chorus. Fun Tonight is the most egregious one imo they're all pretty unsatisfying but that one specifically sounds so out of place and "hey, how do we end this song?", "oh, just add a synth to the instrumental and I'll go 'oh oh oh' over it and then I'll say the title again" People coming for Joanne as usual but the only thing slightly wrong with that album is the mixing. The analog instruments create such a rich sound otherwise, and unique too. But some people like music that fell out of a desktop folder. That's for the Chromatica stans others enjoy music that has to actually be played. That's for me And for Gaga too, clearly, considering much of Harlequin and Mayhem is analog and the digital bits are crafted to be varied, weighty, and meaningful. Bloodclot and your stuck-in-2015-mudic, take notes You're stinky
