steven 6,139
Listening to Chromatica again, the album still sounds divine and so well-produced. Probably her best lyrics from all of her albums, and honestly, the best visuals she’s ever had for an era. Thoughts? 4 2 16 3
Ladle Ghoulash 27,665
I love Chromatica for what it is, but if anything, the intricacy of the production on MAYHEM only makes it more obvious how sorely that was missed on Chromatica. The songwriting is generally really good and I think, with more interesting production, it could be one of her better albums fs. TheFrenchGuy 331
I came back to it last week and after Mayhem, I found Chromatica a bit lifeless. It has its moments (Replay is still that bitch) but to me it's clear that Gaga was not 100% back to herself when she made the album. The core is still personal, but i don't know how to explain it, it's almost as if the sound was built around her and not by her? The spirit of experimentation is missing, the production is too clean and I'm left wanting some more spice. HeavyMetal Halcyon 1,762
I’ll always love Chromatica. I think it served as peak escapism in pop music, right when the world needed it, and eventually people will look back on it and realize how amazing it is. It really set the trend for artists, but the state of the world shifted quite heavily with the start and end of the pandemic. Doja Cat, Lil Nas X, etc all jumped on the trend. It helped solidify Kpop into American mainstream media. It spawned the first all-female collaboration to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was peak camp mixed with environmental world building story and lore. Chromatica Forever 1

I remember reading somewhere that that is actually the case. That it was basically Bloodpop doing most of the production and she would just come in with lyrics and sing over the music and give some feedback on it, but that she was not as involved per usual because she was too depressed. 5

Yeah that's how it sounds to me. It's not bad. But I don't feel Gaga on this album as much as her other projects.

Lemon Blood 255
I’ve been listening to Chromatica a lot lately and I have to agree, it’s aged gracefully. I don’t think it’s her magnum opus (MAYHEM) but it certainly deserves more love. It’s arguably more under appreciated than ARTPOP

nATAH 51,422
you can really feel how short the songs are, since mayhem was a return to form mother, what must i do?
djfreemymind 1,141
Chromatica holds a special place in my heart and it has just as many skips as Mayhem. No matter what y'all say Don't Call Tonight is one of her most boring songs production-wise. Even Fun Tonight is a little more interesting than that I'm not saying it's her best album (BTW ftw!) — only time will tell if I will like Mayhem as much... We can all have different tastes but you have to agree that Chroma keeps catching strays on this site. It's hated more than ARTPOP (and Joanne these days!) yet Alice, 911, Replay, Babylon are top-notch Gaga. Sour Candy is a banger. If you revisit Stupid Love and Plastic Doll, they're also bops. The concept, anchored by the interludes, was the first of many planet-themed albums. Then Dawn of Chromatica? I get why, but Bloodpop gets too much hate when he was the one that fed the fandom in 2021 (along with 2018 Tony + Gar). whateva, LG6 foreva — the journey does continue! whoresup 3,067
I often surprise myself at how much I enjoy it when I listen to it. It’s a good album that has great peaks and the simplicity of it relative to her other work offers quite a refreshing record in her discography. 3 2 1
