And Miley's new album is such a good body of work (Walk of Fame, Golden Burning Sun, Every Girl, Pretend You're God, Easy Lover) I'll choose to believe that anyone who hates on it hasn't actually heard it or has terrible taste

I was talking mostly about the desperation for a hit rather than what the song is used for 

Also Bloody Mary went super viral thanks to the Wednesday edit and it wasn't even in the show, so let's not underestimate the impact is can have

If the GP don't respond well, doesn't matter if it's a OST on movie for netflix or for biggest blockbuster ever. And the movie studios will pivot really quick on that. That's why Top Gun Maverick distributor quickly released that song by One Republic just a week after Hold My Hands released, (HMH released on May 3rd 2022, & I ain't  worried on May 13th 2022), as HMH didn't soar as much as they expected, as an example, since you mentioned this song.

Guess Miley got the advantage since hers is a ballad and on one of the most awaited (probably, highest grossing film too) movie while Gaga's I think would be a fashion/dance track. Only dance song I remember winning was Natuu

Wouldn't say Gaga is desperate after the success of Abra and DWAS lol, meanwhile Miley's last album...

I think they were gonna release I Aint Worried anyway, it had MV ready and different label. HMH was released mid-week...
