This isn't shade at all but I’m not surprised given the lukewarm reaction to the album. Those colossal first week numbers came from the pre-release vinyl/physical sales which were based on general hype of Taylor having a new album. The album itself didn’t have the best reception, so less people returned to it the following week.

Again no shade but the first week numbers (which were excellent!!) are less of a reflection of the album’s reception and more of a reflection of the general hype of Taylor putting out new music.

Her second week numbers are still above all the other girls first week.

So by that logic we could conclude that the album is having great reception from the GP?

Probably still a good amount but not a lot- From everything I saw in promo she had this smirk on her face and talked this project up like she actually put thought into it.

I really want her to drop something again just to see if her fans buy back into her bullshit or finally realize she needs to just take a break and get inspired to make something good.

Come for me, but even the poets department album was awful, and whatever one came before it lol. I try to keep an open mind with any music, but her music has been unbearable for the last several years because it feels it came out of a factory.

Yeah, there is a constant decline since Midnights. I like half of the songs on Midnights, around 5 songs on TTPD, and 1 song on TLOAS :laughga: She is very much uninspired, and put a priority on quantity over quality. The fact that Max Martin couldn't save TLOAS is very revealing...

TTPD is the flattest album I've ever heard. Everything from vocals to melodies to instrumentals are FLAT as hell and boring, and it's the same for the album cover, what a snoozefest. Water soup kind of album.

Mmm I sense a bit of hypocrisy here.

Gaga did it with Born This Way (yes Amazon bought the copies, but her team still approved the deal).

Wasn't Joanne or Chromatica also combined with tour tickets which inflated the first week sales ?

Or DWAS being added last minute on MAYHEM, which massively helped its streaming numbers.

The point being that if Gaga could do these kind of tactics to debut with a million again (let alone 4 millions), she'd do it again!

none of this comes even close to the stunts taylor pulled

mother, what must i do?

Gaga's albums have never banked that heavily on pre-sale numbers. And afaik she never tried to sell her fans voice notes either. Chromatica definitely wasn't bundled with tour tickets because it came after the rule change if I remember correctly, though it's possible that Joanne was. But Gaga has never released time restricted variants to induce fomo in her fans. Or put out 30+ variants. Her  releasing the Mayhem "Deluxe" didn't even include physicals, though you know Taylor would have squeezed her fans for that extra copy a piece or even released multiple variants with different covers.

I truly feel like Gaga could pull the type of promo that Taylor does. Not to the effect of 4 million, but definitely to 300k-500k.  But she simply doesn't want to. She could wear things for shock factor, including re-wearing the meat dress. But I feel she's always stuck to her artistic vision for an era. And I feel you can honestly see the difference in conviction between what her label is requiring her to do in order to promote an album versus what she wants to do. Gaga strays away from repeating herself in a lot of ways, while Taylor would (and has) embrace(d) it.

Swifties go buying more variants to save Taylor’s record :kry:

Taylor has a new record. Biggest second week sales decline ever!

As it should. Only first week matters for headlines. The rest after that is just about having legs, even if it sells lower and/or slowly.

She is selling more copies than any modern pop stars today, and having all tracks on the album on Top 12 of Billboard Top 100 charts and topping UK Charts as well, how is she flopping exactly? Ain't no way

Exactly. And Taylor achieved all these million copies with full price instead of 99 cents amazon discount. All these blind Taylor hate got people talking crazy :ororomunroe:
