I still feel like a 60% decline between weeks 1 and 2 is favorable over 91% and I wonder how many variants Adele released for her jump in Week 5. Also why skip over 30?

I think week 5 must be Xmas week, so people gifted it to each other. No such variants as far as I know.

skipped 30 as TLOAS broke the first week sale record of 25, not 30. Besides if 25 was commercial peak of Adele, Showgirl seems to be the peak of Ms Swift (unless she goes ahead and repeak in future), so it’s a peak vs peak analysis.

Sad. I get it, though. But I think Don't Click Play is one of the better albums in pop released this year.

This isn't shade at all but I’m not surprised given the lukewarm reaction to the album. Those colossal first week numbers came from the pre-release vinyl/physical sales which were based on general hype of Taylor having a new album. The album itself didn’t have the best reception, so less people returned to it the following week.

Again no shade but the first week numbers (which were excellent!!) are less of a reflection of the album’s reception and more of a reflection of the general hype of Taylor putting out new music.

it's still the 5th biggest week of 2025

every artist has multiple variants now, Taylor would still sell more that any of them.

Sure but they wondered the actual number lol not if she’d “beat” someone or not

In the case that she only had 1 of each; cd, vinyl, digital and casette the sales would be about 540k pure sales per my calculations :lolly: still a lot but nowhere near the 4m mark of 30ish variants.

that math doesn’t add up with Billboards’ counting rules

Totally agree! It’s clear they were after the record.

Organically, if only one version is released she had 800k on lock. With 2-3 variants over 1-1.5m was on lock and that would’ve been normal still. She just realized that the more variants she put out the record was within reach and she went crazy sadly.

I can’t wait to see how she’ll react once Coldplay breaks her Eras Tour record.

What record are they beating?? I didn’t know they were even close

I'm curious about how much she would sell without the billion variants and gimmicks in her 1st week.

1 CD, 1 vinyl, 1 digital version, that's it.

Probably still a good amount but not a lot- From everything I saw in promo she had this smirk on her face and talked this project up like she actually put thought into it.

I really want her to drop something again just to see if her fans buy back into her bullshit or finally realize she needs to just take a break and get inspired to make something good.

Come for me, but even the poets department album was awful, and whatever one came before it lol. I try to keep an open mind with any music, but her music has been unbearable for the last several years because it feels it came out of a factory.

I think the follow-up to an album speaks more volumes than the initial week, especially with the swifties who are literally calling out of work to just sit there and stream her album like it's their job.

HIMe

Mmm I sense a bit of hypocrisy here.

Gaga did it with Born This Way (yes Amazon bought the copies, but her team still approved the deal).

Wasn't Joanne or Chromatica also combined with tour tickets which inflated the first week sales ?

Or DWAS being added last minute on MAYHEM, which massively helped its streaming numbers.

The point being that if Gaga could do these kind of tactics to debut with a million again (let alone 4 millions), she'd do it again!
