Yeah probably more than 1m people. But it's also unclear how Billboard is filtering out sales. It says 4 copies per customer per UPC. So if Taylor has 4 versions, could an individual simply buy 16 copies via 4 variants and count as 16 sales? And since Taylor has Target editions, could they buy 4 copies from her, 4 from Target, and then digital copies from each platform as well? They try to tie customers to card info, IP address, and shipping address. But it's also unclear if this info is also segregated between retailers and filtered at that level or if they have to hand over all data to Billboard to filter. On top of that, Stan accounts are advising people to just use gift cards at physical retailers because it circumvents the customer being tied to the sale and thus allowing more sales per person.

Even then though, that won't bring a 4m first week sales down to any lower than 1m actual individuals. I'd estimate that no more than 35% of buyers are buying more than one album. It would be a very lucrative minority of obsessives.

Totally agree! It’s clear they were after the record.
 

Organically, if only one version is released she had 800k on lock. With 2-3 variants over 1-1.5m was on lock and that would’ve been normal still. She just realized that the more variants she put out the record was within reach and she went crazy sadly. 
 

I can’t wait to see how she’ll react once Coldplay breaks her Eras Tour record.

Ava and Taylor are not the same though. 

 

The attacks on Ava were mostly just hateful. Which I feel I covered pretty well in her thread. It's concerning and sad to see a "community" of people, largely comprised of a marginalized group, being catty in order to seem cool or just be a "mean girl". And it's even more sad considering said community is based around a woman that isn't afraid to stand up or "act punk", but does so in response to provocation or her moral stances. 

 

Taylor on the other hand has had numerous issues. When she's spoken up against, everyone is misogynistic. But Bad Blood aimed to tear a woman down and the return of Taylor's catalog to Spotify was timed with that same woman's new album release. A TTPD variant in the UK was timed to block Charli from a #1 there. TTPD variants were timed to do the same to Billie in the US. She wrote a whole song on her new album in parody of a Charli song that really wasn't even about how Charli felt about Taylor and was just a self-reflection on jealousy. Then said she wasn't bothered by the song or behavior, but felt the need to address it in a documentary and include it on an album that is arguably short to begin with. The accusations of racism she's facing now, even just the dog whistles, are nothing new. There's the infamous swastika shirt selfie, the questionable lyrics over several of her albums, etc. It's not just that her music is absolutely horrible to me personally, it's the chronic victimization. It's that every issue she brings up, feminism, misogyny, people's rights, are all just self-serving. None of her charity was published since her truck driver bonus story until now when all the sudden she's RAISING money, not simply donating, for marine life. And donating to a child battling cancer. But if she wasn't in the news for the poor reception of her album along with these new dog whistle accusations, would she even bother doing any of it?

 

That's not even every example of how things she's done can be seen as problematic. But at the end of the day, her fans and stans eat it up and defend her. And she doesn't do anything to address any of these issues, unless she can capitalize on them. She feels all this responsibility to the world, but does nothing to attempt to stop her own fans from sending death theeats to anyone she's beefing with. Because she's actively encouraging it in the products she's peddling. And to me, all of this behavior is dangerous. A lot of the behavior she elicits and encourages in her fans is the same behavior demonstrated by MAGA. Because they're both essentially cults. A whole bunch of "I/we are not the problem, it's what has happened to us and what/who caused it and we're right". The moral superiority of it all. Trump didn't just miraculously gain his power, although he as an individual miraculously pulled it off. There was a lot going on behind the scenes to prime people, including the male loneliness epidemic. In the 21st century, people aren't gonna fight most wars via weapons when they themselves can be weaponized psychologically. So now we have a woman that has built a huge image of innocence and being a "liberal" or "Democrat" showing that she's not who she claims she is, while "fans" say that anything that potentially counteracts that is a "reach" or "not like that". Trumpies also believed him when he said he didn't know what Project 2025 was. Her aligning herself to be like others (otherwise known as Democrats) and then slowly slipping in poison (dog whistles) is the first step in the fascist pipeline for MAGA imo. And I think the timing for this album along with the timing of the government shutdown in an attempt to distract the masses proves that.
