Morphine Prince 109,654
The CIA’s operations abroad are usually shrouded in secrecy, but President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he had authorized the spy agency to take unspecified action in Venezuela, an extraordinary and unprecedented acknowledgement from a commander in chief. “Why did you authorize the CIA to go into Venezuela?” a reporter asked Trump at the White House. “I authorized for two reasons, really,” Trump said. “Number one, they have emptied their prisons into the United States of America." The second reason, the president said, was narcotics trafficking. “And the other thing are drugs. We have a lot of drugs coming in from Venezuela,” Trump said. The president’s highly unusual remarks about his orders to the CIA came only hours after The New York Times reported that the Trump administration had authorized the CIA to carry out covert, lethal action in Venezuela. The CIA declined to comment on the report. I don't know why everyone is focusing on that. Time and time again people called CIA regime change a conspiracy and time and time again they're proven wrong. Alxjcgn 2,196
Unrelated to this- I'm so awful and attaching pictures so if someone could please do this let me know! Trump's presidential letter to the CIA in the hall is in sharpie and looks like it is written by a 2 year old, especially when compared to the other signatures with meaningful messages! Look it up haha, I remember seeing it on Twitter one day and having to research it myself and couldn't believe it was a real thing.

Hasn't that always been the point of the CIA though? What im confused about is why he would even say this and openly admit it he just put a spotlight on the cia that are undercover and their sources surely? The US invaded Iraq to remove their dictator and a decade later ISIS was unleashed on the world and it took another decade to eradicate it as a threat. Why on Earth people still think the US invading and meddling in other countries is a good thing is beyond me.

The poor people of Venezuela deserve better. Of that, I have no doubt. What I can’t stand, respectfully, is my home country acting like the most moral top cop of the world and thinking that we have the authority to enact regime change and destabilize countries because it’s “in our best interests,” when time and time again we’ve only created an even worse geopolitical situation after the fact, or created global threats for the future. Maduro is a monster, but the US openly admitting to using the CIA to destabilize Venezuela is an act of aggression. If any other Western power did that to the US, it’d be tantamount to a declaration of war or an invasion.

Gagaism 12,471
I’ve seen a comment somewhere that all of those recent middle eastern operations mediated by him would be supposedly part of an exchange/transaction that somehow gives USA the right to take over Venezuelan territory. And to be fair, seeing this right here clicks on so many things in my mind, especially considering the political motivations that would make it very convenient for obvious reasons and also because Venezuela has part of the Amazon forest on its grounds as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if the idea comes out as a real thing tbh.

Operation Condor killed thousands and supported some of the most violent dictatorships in Latin American history in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay. An estimated 60,000 working class people murdered through USA funded terrorism over the course of 7 years. The US & Bolivia literally consulted with Nazi SS leader Klaus Barbie the "Butcher of Lyon" on organising state terrorism. The US having helped him flee prosecution for his crimes in Lyon to aid their intervention in Latin American politics.
