Sia's estranged husband Daniel Bernard is seeking a ton of spousal support asking a judge for $250,856 per month.

He's also asking for Sia to contribute at least $300,000 toward his attorney's fees, and an additional $200,000 for forensic accounting fees and costs.

Daniel says he's been unemployed since April 1 and has no source of income, claiming Sia ceased all funding of their joint venture, Modern Medicine ... including his salary. He says his only source of funds has been monthly payments from Sia by way of stipulated orders, which only cover payments through October 1, 2025.

According to Bernard, the couple had a 9,500-square-foot home in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles, with 10-12 staff members ... including a butler, personal chefs, a stylist, two masseuses, an IT guy, and a housekeeper. He estimates their living expenses were between $400,000 and $500,000 per month.

The "Unstoppable" singer filed for divorce from Daniel in March, citing "irreconcilable differences," and he claims they spared no expense during their 26-month marriage. x

There should seriously be a cap on "suppports" of any kind whether its spousal or child support tbh. And in the case of spousal support there should be strict time limits on how long it goes on for. It should be only to give them enough time to sort out their careers and job, finances etc. They should not be mooching from their ex for an extended period of time

There reaches a threshold where its not support anymore and its just plain making an entire living for them (at a highly luxurious level on top of that)

And yes this should apply to when its a man paying child support to a woman as well cuz i know ppl like to have different standards for that...

Child support is totally different 'cause what even is "spousal support"? If you're an adult and not disabled then you're responsible for providing for yourself :laughga:

Child support should be based on percentage of income if it isn't already. That's more about the idea that you don't get to create a child then hoard your resources from that child and the parent that has custody just 'cause you're rich or whatever.

Spousal support exists as a result of that period of our history where women weren't financially independent.

It is a bit outdated in the current age, and the main income gap is supported via child support. But originally it was there to ensure women didn't end up destitute if men abandoned them for a younger model and to make it easier for women to escape DV (which realistically is the only time it should be used nowadays)

I dont think spousal support itself is outdated because a lot of women still live that reality (in more societies than others) but i think the legal considerations for awarding spousal support are anachronistic. Thats why a lot of people take advantage of it in todays world.

Yeah, people who aren't financially independent but are divorcing due to domestic violence, that seems like a pretty valid reason tbh.
