That’s true but a lot of us here are talking about Taylor’s influence, power, and capitalist greed and how she doesn’t use that for the greater good. In that sense, yes, she deserves the criticism for staying so silent and selfish.
 

For example, she used the lgbt community in the Lover era because it fit with the aesthetic but it comes across as so bland and marketed. Basically, Taylor doesn’t speak up unless it fits her brand. And for someone of her power, that makes her spineless.

Nah, making fun of her feels like punching up because she seemingly has everything anyone could ever want but acts like a whiny baby lol. She undercuts her own experiences with misogyny by equating it with "this person said something negative about me therefore they hate women" so she isn't a very compelling person to root for. 

Whenever she does do something that is genuinely meaningful re: women's rights, she immediately trivializes it by talking about the haters and how everyone is sooo mean to her all the time when she's just a widdle baby. If Gaga responded to every single comment and criticism lobbied against her by saying "you're just being mean to me because YOU HATE GAY PEOPLE!!!!!" eventually people are going to stop caring when a comment actually is bigoted. 

I think Taylor very genuinely believes she's still the underdog, and that her being a woman trumps any and all privilege she has. Unfortunately that means she's made herself the face of white mediocrity when she could easily avoid a lot of the heat she gets by just choosing her battles more wisely, but I think that level of self reflection just isn't possible when you're as rich and famous as she is

Are we too harsh on Taylor? Absolutely. I don’t get why people spend so much energy hating her. A lot of the comments sound just like the ones Gaga got when she first blew up — same tone, same bitterness.

Do I love Taylor’s music? Not really. But do I need to hate her for being popular? Of course not. Her music is easy to digest, which is exactly why it connects with so many people. And let’s be honest, she’s clearly talented, whether you like her or not.

She just got big when Nonsense popped off. 

I'm not belittling her grind to make it big but she received substantial industry support from Espresso onwards. None of her releases afterwards were as good as their numbers suggest.

people are just so over the top dramatic about everything she says and does and it's and embarrassing look imo. her album is not the worst of all time she is not the evilest rich woman she is not the biggest climate criminal she doesn't sell the most vinyl variants as people continue to say over and over and over. that's such a weird behavior that she pulls out of the masses and its a hateful energy that does not get directed towards anyone else

Yep. The r/taylorswift subreddit is insane, because it's full of people unable to admit that she has any bad songs or has made any questionable decisions. But at the same time, those who hate on her rarely do so for valid reasons, even though there are a plethora of valid criticisms that can be made of her.

She said she won't release more tracks, but yet she is releasing acoustic versions, which yes, technically they aren't new tracks, but is it necessary to release only one or two per disc? It's very predatory, she doesn't needs more sales, without all those versions she still gonna sell. She's a ******* billionaire, she doesn't needs more money.
