If we want to be called "the land of opportunity" then we have to be that. If paperwork is such a problem then make the process more efficient. We have the resources whether our government wants to admit it or not. Immigrants are a net positive on our nation whether they're documented or not. They aren't a problem; late stage capitalism is our problem but too many rich people depend on it so they've found an easy scapegoat.

As has already been stated, many people who legally enter the US may be "illegal" for a period of time waiting for paperwork to be processed. I know several people for whom this was the case (when they were changing their status/visa). Also, the majority of people deemed "illegal" are people who came here legally and have overstayed their visas, and many of them are white. 

I'm a US citizen by birth, but many of the people closest to me are immigrants. Contrary to what MAGA would have you believe, immigrants, whether legal/"illegal", don't get all these great perks, and it's a constant uphill battle for them. 

Immigrants, regardless of legal status, are not the source of the major problems in the US, but they're a convenient scapegoat, especially non-white immigrants.

because the superbowl can be watched safely at HOME

his concerts will not be televised (unless he does a tour film) so he doesn't want his fanbase to take that risk of needing to travel to go see him live

I think this is spot on. They have been arresting people when they show up for work in other places.

while i'm not an illegal immigrant and have citizenship, i don't care if someone comes here from another country for any number of reasons and can't afford to gain citizenship.  the only reasons i could immediately is because i was a teenager, had an american mother, was born on an american military base, and had grandparents willing to pay for everything.  if you want to come to what is literally called "the land of opportunity" and "the melting pot of the world,"  do so.  if you can't afford documentation right away, that doesn't give you any less of a right to be somewhere that makes you feel safe.  though not many people feel safe here anymore.
