Hardest fandom moment?

NUTELLA

I jumped ship shortly after ARTPOP & ignored Joanne/the jazz albums but, for me... the rise/omnipotence of Shallow was the most disappointing turn of events.

Aside from HATING the song itself (one of her most annoying to date), I was convinced by that point that she would never return to pop/dance music. Watching the GP become more enamored with her as I lost interest was so bizarre. I was happy for her, but also... couldn't gaf?

Come 2020, I was excited for Chromatica, but then the music turned out to be... Chromatica 👀

I wasn't in love with Disease- song or video.

But MAYHEM delivered the goods.

So hardest moment? 2014-2025 lmao

Sorry but no, that era WAS amazing

Sure, a lot of sh*t happened. But it was whole ass serve, except the fact that we only got two MVs.

The Aura leak, the amazing photo shoots, the Applause MV debut in Time Square, the VMAs, GMA (twice), the iTunes Festival, all the magazine covers, the tracklist reveal from the fans, the artwork slow reveal live on NY streets, the snippets and promo singles, the Gypsy debut performance in Germany, SNL, the YT awards, the acoustic performances with the dolls, the ArtRave (being shot professionally), Volantis (although useless and kinda miserable), the dozens of fascinating interviews and looks, the AMAs, Allan Carr, Graham Norton, Machete Kills, Sin City, the Holiday special, The Voice (twice), the Tonight Show, the Roseland Ball, the SXSW show, the different Gaga exhibits, C À Vous, the Woman Of The Year ceremony, the final artRAVE being streamed live and so on…

Yes it was a mess, but it was an amazing one:traumatica:

actually no, it was not amazing

mother, what must i do?

If you say so

I do :cheeky: and you're pretty much proving my point of how fans lets nostalgia cloud the reality of it

No, there’s no nostalgia, I already felt that at the time :oops:

The Fame Monster

Honestly, my toughest time as a Little Monster was 2008—mainly because I didn’t even realize I was one yet. Picture 12-year-old me, a confused gay boy thinking: ‘Who is this Lady GaGa, why does she look like that, and who approved that name?’ 😅 Cut to 2009: Paparazzi at the VMAs and Bad Romance dropped, and suddenly my whole destiny was sealed. I went from confused skeptic to a fully-realized Monster overnight. :stupidoreo:

To be honest, ever since becoming a Monster, I’ve found each era to be special in its own way. I’ve always loved the music as it came out. I don’t listen to ARTPOP, Joanne, or A Star Is Born as much anymore, but at the time, each of them felt special to me. And every now and then, I still end up stripping down to belt ARTPOP with my blue balls, throwing on a cowboy hat to stomp around to Joanne, or dragging my Bradley Cooper–lookalike boyfriend to a karaoke bar just to terrorize the room with our tragic duet of Shallow.

Find your freedom in the music

Also the muppets special which she gave the best manicure performance ever, the sukkiri and SMAPxSMAP performances, Jingle Bell Ball… so many great moments tbh

wouldn't say "hard" but definitely less enjoyable and that was ARTPOP era, too much negativity from all sides... fans, critics, the press, and even the gp but most importantly she was not doing well mentally (it's less fun when she's not enjoying herself!)

I had people at that catholic school I was at going in on her during "Judas" but that was iconic ngl

Fans were going crazy every single day for ARTPOP there was no negativity. She was also very much loved by the GP, but she was also not understood during ARTPOP. I think the negativity mostly came from her personal life.

I don’t think you’re point makes much sense because at the end of the day, we will always keep the memories from anything we go through and it’s normal when they mean or at least have anything positive for you to remember about, especially when we take music in consideration, which is basically part of most memories we carry through life lol.

Now, if the ARTPOP era as a whole didn’t resonate with you specifically, then that’s another story and that’s ok.

I had a few:

- The huge letdown of the Intel collab that after weeks of build up and incredible teasing turned out to be that atrocious Bowie's tribute mess;

- Her performing in Baku didn't sit right with me;

- Her working with very questionable people, from Terry Richardson to R Kelly and even Tom Cruise;

- The Enigma residency was really cringy

- That Nurtec ad...:alsemanche:

I’m sorry but that’s wrong, she was loved until up to Telephone mv. Her issues with the gp actually started back when she swallowed the rosary in Alejandro, I remember the shift vividly when I started hearing ppl saying horrible things about her at that time.

Then, when she came up with the visuals for BTW, gp went hard calling her demonic following the events from the above and things only got worse after that. ARTPOP was both the epitome of overexposure that contributed the most for the hate coming from the gp imo, and also the Madonna comparisons aftermath, the Katycats and etc.

You’re right when you say that fans were crazy for her, especially the real ones who survived all that mess, but public love was probably the least thing she was given during those times.

I mean people are welcome to their memories but factually, ARTPOP was a difficult and confusing time for fans because of the random announcements, silence and drama and that's where the nostalgia kicks in :interestinga:

I see a lot of tweets and tiktoks about how ARTPOP was an amazing time to be a fan when really... no? it had fun moments and performances but lets not act like it was a great experience overall
