After performing non-stop as Perfume since 2000, the trio has decided to put a halt to their activities after 25 years together. The announcement was made on the day of their 25th anniversary, just days after the release of their new album and shortly before their upcoming shows at the Tokyo Dome.

Posting this here, since I know there's a couple of fans here and also the news it's only been released to their Fan Club members.

Ugh. I knew I should’ve booked a trip to Japan and just gone to their concert next week.

Everyone knew this was coming once they posted that cryptic "we have news" tweet the other day; even the JP fans were like "oh, it's time" lol.

I can't really be surprised; they've been hard at work for so long. I know A-chan would love to settle down and have kids.  I wonder if they'll continue their solo appearances since Kashiyuka has been doing news hosting side quests among other things.

I do believe they'll be back like they mentioned at the bottom of the letter rather than disbanding fully (if they want to, at least). They've become a classic act; even if their new music has sold less, they'll fill up the arenas and domes regardless because everyone knows they put on one of the best shows.

It is sad to think about not hearing from them for a while though, because damn I grew up with them just as I did Gaga :bradley: 2008 in middle school to nearly being 30 now, they've been there the whole way..

Once I understood the concept of Nebula Romance being a love letter to their career, I felt like this was really their last album, so i'm not 100% shocked, but i'm not sad, they been going not stop since they were like 13 years old and Nocchi just had her 37 birthday, they deserve it.

The ending of the latest music video really sealed the deal; I got emotional seeing it lol

I saw a tweet saying "imagine how much A-chan will cry during the last concert" and oohhhh I'm not ready for that.

But, we still have one new song coming from an anime tie-in, and I know they'll have cooked up something amazing for this upcoming concert. I can't wait until it's available to stream later on!

True, I've known them since the late 2000s, too, ever since YouTube became first-time popular and Perfume was suggested by the algorithm. I even still have Perfume songs in my playlist like Chocolate Disco or Akihabalove. Great songs.

However, as time passed by they kinda continued to make similair sounding sounds and songs and I lost interest and did not follow them anymore. Also, J-pop was surpassed by K-pop. Perfume at their peak was when J-pop was still more popular than K-pop. I've been thinking they were already disbanded/not active anymore.

I'm very surprised to learn they were active until now

Well, to me they were already on hiatus for like 10 years, so nothing changes
