Creyk 17,837
This is the criticism that is most often stated about Mayhem, that it should have had more songs that harken back to her signature sound. What is your objective take on this take and how would you refute or support it?
elsamars 2,122
My ideal Mayhem includes no Abracadabra so I disagree. I would like more songs like Perfect Celebrity, Shadow of a Man and Vanish Into You though. 2 2 5
faysalaaa 4,798
I agree, Abra and Killah are the only songs I truly like. The rest are very good and I listen to them everyday, but its not what im really looking for when it comes to Gagas music. MountainMonster 849
I love it all. And anyone who feels like the rest of the music isn’t signature Gaga music is clearly discounting the vast majority of her catalogue. For every Poker Face, there’s a Money Honey and The Fame (the song). But I also could use more Abra and Disease like music. 11
stevana229 1,890
I Agree!!!! I feel like the first 4 tracks all compliment each other then the album takes a huge turn after Perfect Celebrity. I wish she kept that dark, electronic grunge pop sound. It would've been more cohesive and less filler 5
TheFrenchGuy 188
I don't understand why people say that Abracadabra is the only song that harkens back to her "signature style". To me, every song sounds like classic Gaga, even the less popular ones like Don't Call Tonight. Gaga is a multi faceted artist and she's at home in a plethora of genres. I dont get why people try to place her in a synthpop shaped box when she's done so much more from the very beginning of her career ALSO If the whole thing was dark industrial electronic pop, y'all would have complained that it's repetitive. We have 3 disco funk songs (Zombieboy, TDD and Kill for Love) and that's too much for some people. The first 4-5 songs stand out because there is contrast on the album. artdoll 46,569
I think most people heard Disease and Abracadabra and thought that Mayhem would sound like those two songs. People heard that it was "Gaga's return to her dark-pop roots", immediately thought of TFM & BTW and ran with it. They got disappointed it wasn't exactly that and got a bit salty. But that happens with each Gaga drop, doesn't it? Of course this doesn't apply to everyone, but that's my takeaway from the fans who voiced how they felt let down. Personally, I think it's perfect as is and the inclusion of CSTH, TDD & KFL made Mayhem sound even more whole, if that makes sense. 。゚☁ glued up, sometimes it's too much ☁ ゚。
HeAteMyh3art 1,444
objective take Every song sounding like Abra would make the record just feel uninspired. If everyone is super, no one is. DO THE DEAD DANCE 💜
princedeeblebleble 1,849
Y'all complained that the last 2 albums were too consistent and samey so she said **** you cigarettes, heres every instrument, genre and vibe under the sun, now dance you mother****ers OT; no, that would be too samey, I love the mix of everything, but I do wish the last few songs had more tempo and rythm or were placed differently to not kill off the album in the last 3 songs after she gave everything possible . 5
Lucas 27,309
Not 14 Abracadabras but I'm definitely very frustrated that she put a bunch of very generic songs in the middle of the album (DCT, LD, HBDYWM, TDD, KFL)

Obobo 3,242
Honestly after she added the bonus tracks the album feels complete. The album would feel too one note if it was only abracadabras. Although she could replace that unseasoned taylor swift type track with an abracadabra type one. 1
