It really is album cover worthy  and one of her best/most iconic shots ever. That said, it doesn’t fully represent the album imo, the album cover represents it better even though it doesn’t look as good. For some reason the album cover is more giving tour poster

“Tour poster” is a great way of looking at it. But you're right, I guess it matches the “hot mess” vibe of the album more.

A small part of me still wishes the announcement photo was the chosen one, though.

The minimalism. The white background- contrasting with BTW’s black- feels very “art gallery.”

It features the era’s definitive big, wavy hairtstyle.

The album’s title is worked in organically via the tattoo.

The bizarre goggles make me think of her retaining perfect vision to see/"comment" on things during an artsy splatter-paint frenzy.

I dislike a lot about ARTPOP.. but that announcement photo had me hyped beyond words at the time

I still remember the chokehold this hairstyle/the venus hair, and any other non-blonde hairstyle had on me when this era started... you just had to be there haha
