On September 12, 2025, K-pop girl group aespa performed their new single Rich Man on Good Morning America, marking their third appearance on the popular U.S. morning show. Unlike their earlier stages, which were praised for strong performances, this one drew widespread criticism.
Clips shared online showed Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning performing without backup dancers, leaving the stage looking bare in key moments.
Fans also claimed the choreography seemed off and accused the group of lip-syncing . x

ILLIT would never have to deal with poor stage presence accusations, they deserve the spotlight :crossed:

Yeah I watched a bunch of performances from aespa since they debuted and they always look robotic and empty inside. It's a pain because they are good vocalists who could put on killer performances with live vocals.

And yeah the camera work on korean shows is muuuuuuch better than on US shows :laughga: The Blackpink and Twice performances on US shows had the same issue, terrible camera work

I think other companies just don't know how to get their groups acts together like hybe does

HYBE has issues too. Just look at some of Le Sserafim's performances over the past couple of years (I'm a predebut stan, but I find it embarrassing when other fans try to act like they haven't had their share of underwhelming performances).

It simply depends on which group you're talking about. Girls' Generation and EXO have never been underwhelming performers, despite being from the same company as aespa, who have been criticised a lot. Similarly, people hate on BLACKPINK's live performances, but they're from the same company as 2NE1 and BIGBANG, both of whom are notoriously good performers.

idk why and it may be biased of me

but blackpink is the only KPOP female group i can take seriously and i think its cuz each girl brings their own flavour and it doesnt look like 6 ppl doing the same thing and sounding very similar.

I dont know who that is but the whole concept of K-pop is to be cheap and talentless, even if some of the band members have talent. Just like how Christina Aguilera is talented, but the bubble gum pop that was forced on her made the work cheap.

Shinee and jonghyun are legends. Literally. Nobody can compare to them and never will.

More like Meh-spa!

I enjoy the kpop girl groups. They do benefit from moving camera angles and lighting.

Perhaps some of their dance moves are a bit too ambitious and they should just stand it place instead of moving all over the stage.
