I dont know if a thread was made on it. I was avoiding spoilers because cinemas here arent playing it and i had to torrent it, i was waiting for an dh recording. I finally watched it and WTF. 

I think its the best horror movie released this year. The plot, the acting, the eerie atmosphere was so good and the hints if gore (im calling it hints because my favorite gore movie is Martyrs).

Plus the ending. I felt such a release when Aunt Gladys was torn apart, the blood gushing made me feel alive. I was so relieved that b1tch died. Though i didnt quite get the ending, like did the children and Alex's parents not get 'normal' because their twig wasnt washed in water?

I dont know why people are calling her a diva (the character). I hated her. I couldnt stand it when she was manipulating Alex. Good thing she died.

Just finished it, loved it! Just as good as barbarian, not as creepy or disturbing but still really solid well made horror. I liked the different perspectives we got from each character as well as it all came together. Got to say I much preferred this to Sinners, although I think both of those as well as Bring Her Back are the best horror pictures so far this year.

I watch this last night and I have to say I was really disappointed. Another hyped up movie (like Longlegs) that just did not land for me. 

I loved the premise and set up of the story. A group of kids disappearing in the middle of the night. The teacher is blamed. A dad is looking for his missing son.

But the structure of the film got really repetitive. I wish more time was spent on building the lore of the mystery or the teach and dad investigating the case. Instead, time was spent on a cop chasing a junkie, the cop cheating with the teacher, the principal grocery shopping. 

And then the goofy aunt shows up and it lost me. I enjoyed the humour throughout, but after the introduction of that character, all sense of suspense was gone. The story just ended up being a kooky witch doing voodoo stuff. 

It had a good set up, but I don’t think it delivered a good enough story.

I also just watched it two days ago and was a little underwhelmed.. acting is great, aesthetic as well, really nice camera work, nice sound, great set building.. all to say, there is a lot right with this and movies aren't solely defined by the writing, but boy, they lost me in their decision to cut the movie into hard pieces. All of the character work could have been done in a singular linear manner and I think it would have been more impactful. Still, enjoyable movie and I'm happy people are still trying different things, this one just didn't quite land for me 🤗
