Mariah Carey to perform on floating stage in the Amazon Rainforest

Mariah Carey is set to perform on a floating stage in the Amazon Rainforest next week, in the hopes of drawing attention to the climate crisis.

Next Wednesday (September 17), the ‘Obsessed’ hitmaker will headline the ‘Amazônia Live – Today and Always’ concert, performing on a unique floating stage on the Guamá @River to raise awareness for ongoing efforts to preserve the rainforest.

The Amazon sunset will provide the backdrop for Carey’s performance, in a visual ode of the importance of protecting the natural world. Likewise, the stage design was inspired by the region’s symbolic flower, the Victoria Amazonica.

Alongside Carey, the concert will also see opening acts showcase the local culture of Pará, including performances by Dona Onete, Joelma, Gaby Amarantos, and Zaynara.

The unique gig will take place two months ahead of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém in an effort to make a statement about the ongoing importance of protecting the biodiverse area. x

Y’all doing too much. Her style is cut from the same cloth as Celine Dion and Whitney Houston where she let her powerhouse vocals shine without dancing and setpieces. Or to come up with a more modern day example, Adele sits in a chair for her performances.

It's not about the lack of dancing, she moves like she's made of stone... None of those examples are anything like how she is  even Whitney moves with more enthusiasm
