Let’s be honest about dead dance

Meanwhile for tears we prayed for dark foth pop and every dark title n theme came like goofy Halloween fun track.. even abracadabra its kinda happy/groovy?

Still find her most gothic: Bloody Mary, the Intro of Marry the night (and the car parts from video), intro of Electric Chapel, Black Jesus (so underated) Dance in the Dark (parts) Alejandro (the complete video edition) and from Mayhem kinda of Disease, the Blade of grass (parts of lyrics) and unexpected the atmosphere of Beast (still its kinda b movie) n of course Perfect Celebrity in a more industrial way.

Sometimes i m feeling that when we say "we want dark gothic pop" everyone means a very different feeling.

Most of us (me including) mean serious dark themes kinda satanicga but not exactly in the fun way (a la zombie boy) but in a romantic goth Victorian dande vampiric way and some people understand (i m afraid gags too some times) camp dark caricatures with fun blinks.

I don't know. Some thoughts..

Us for TDD, i think its in the category fun funky dark (not dark for real) and thats ok but i find it a mediocre song in relation with the other tracks. As for the video beautiful cinematography but it lacks storytelling as some people mention. The tim Burton colab i think is a very good situation cause maybe it will bring some things in the future so its ok if the video isn't the best possible. Imagine they direct together Bloody Mary instead.. with a story line as long as Marry the nights..

I really believe Vanish can be a perfect conclusion with an aethereal gostly video powerful in sound with great prospects in vision.

It's good, not great. The production, verses, and her vocals are the best part.

The first chorus is really jarring because you start out with this gothic, trance vibe and then she yells and we're in this funky chorus and this part of the song sounds way too close to KFL/SOAM.

The chorus feels really uninspired, but the 2nd half of the song is better.

The 2nd verse with the "creature of the night" and the synths are GODLY, I just wish so much of the song didn't sound like other songs from Mayhem...

Still hoping for more dark, industrial bangers to be added on to Mayhem for Halloweentime :franminervini:

Yeah my primary issue with the song is it’s kinda filler more than thriller

It's a cute Halloween track -- but nothing ground breaking.

Would have preferred a music video for Garden of Eden.

To her credit, her first few albums were pretty different for a mainstream popstar, and were heavily industrial, techno and electronic inspired. :vegas:

Which is why it confuses me sometimes when fans can't handle her nose tracks like "Disease" or "Killah" but claim ARTPOP/BTW are their favourites.

Tis a mystery innit..

They are heavily techno, industrial, and electronic inspired, but they're also very poppy and danceable too. She's always taken inspiration from many different genres, but at the end of the day, it's all pop music.

Frankly, I don't think many monsters have a good grasp of musical references. Like, who were the people saying that TDD sounded like Venus?? :smh: When they say they want "experimental" stuff, 9 times out of 10, they don't actually want experimental music. They want electronic/dance pop music with maybe some weird synths

Great song. The chorus is catchy but a bit weak, IMO.

100%. That is such a core contradiction: it has to be pop, but not too pop, experimental, but not too experimental…not to mention that it can only be experimental in one or two ways (it has to either be dark synth pop or some kind EDM), but if it’s experimental by way of fusing industrial rock, 70s psychedelic funk, and 90s rnb the divas are NOT having it. I think there are some folks that are trying to recapture the lightning in a bottle of hearing Bad Romance for the first time and don’t really wanna see Gaga do anything else tbh.

There's a strong argument to be made that Joanne was actually her most "experimental" record, but because it's not the industrial, electronic, techno, dance-y kind of record people expected, they hated it. For many monsters, "experimental" is just code for TFM or BTW.

The song is cute but it also sounds like a mayhem reject. I feel like it fits the theme of Wednesday (or monster high cartoon :poot:).
gaga really wants the Halloween season but her soul will always be Christmas

My honest opinion on The Dead Dance (song and MV) is that everyone has been massively overreacting to it for what it is. You'd think she released another Grigio Girls or something...

Have you tried fun?
