I don't think there isn't a difference between Republicans and Democrats of course there is, my problem is the issue that is causing the cost of living crisis which will only get worse regardless of who is in power would still be there and that to me completely overshadows whatever growth numbers used to suggest your economy is fine. 

Most of the world has its pensions wrapped up in an ever inflating economy that increasingly looks like it can't pay its debt with an ungodly share of that in companies riding the AI bubble. 

I'm unaware Harris had plans to prevent that? I agree trump is making things worse faster but I believe both sides aren't recognising the hole that's sinking the boat or more likely they're being paid to ignore it.

I feel like every 4 years from now someone will keep selling the lie they can fix this and I'm not going to keep believing it especially from the main parties, that's why politics is more extreme because the problem is so fundamental to the way we've built society under capitalism that no matter who is in power the problems gets worse. Even if your country swings back to the Democrats I know the issues we have now will still be there but worse, I just hope you have the sense to not parrot trumps rhetoric that all the misery was caused by the other sides administration

I agree with the rest of your point but the danger in this attitude is complacency and handing your country over to fascists. 

This is why we are where we are. People didn't give a damn because they thought "Oh nothing will change anyway" and we are now seeing Trump dismantle so many US institutions and fragrantly breaking the law with every executive order. 

I am confident a Democrat being in office would be far better than someone like Trump. Hell, even a regular Republican would be better than this man

At the end of the day this system was made to benefit the rich, that doesn't meant I will just give up and let these people get away with everything they are doing. 

The US is a dying empire, but I don't want to watch it accelerate and lead to so much harm.

I'm not self destructing, but I won't clutch to a dying breed of politics to save me when it can't. Governments will dance around this over the next 5, 10, 15 years however long it takes but it will always come back to either taxing wealth to lessen inequality or let the wheels fall off this experiment of a life we're living. I know who I'll champion but unless I truly believe they will do that then I won't be lulled into a false sense of security. And I won't play the game of vote for me or the fascists will win, the writings on the walls they're going to win unless people see real change and like I said that's only achieved through wealth distribution from taxing with elite. The UK have just passed sentencing laws that can give them power to ban you from going to football matches or the pub, or ban you drinking or certain public places and approved unmanned helicopters to patrol as well as police already having AI facial recognition scanners all up over London. I know how conspiratorial I sound right now but it's true, the BBC reported on all of these when they happened. If you don't understand why I'm scared for the world and want real ****ing change as soon as possible then I can't help you. 

 Bearing in mind this is our left wing government doing this.

Politics isn't always about who you believe in or who will save you. This isn't religion. Many politicians are liars. Sometimes it really just is compromise. Especially in the US where we really only have two choices.

Politics is for sure about who you believe in, don't misconstrue that word to mean anything religious. I'm not religious. It's fundamentally a belief you must have if you're voting for a person or a party to carry out their promises. If not then do you not believe they will do what you think they do? Don't you clearly believe the Democrats would have been better?

I use the words save me because it is scary, like a dying empire has always caused widespread pain and destruction and this one has nukes. There is a war in Europe started by an aging dictator wanting to flex his legacy, and a genocide that our countries are arming with minimal backslash or in the UK outright arresting protestors often pensioners who are willing to fight for what we're losing in real time. This isn't going away its getting worse, anyway I'm going to log off clearly I'm too online and it's spiking my anxiety

Believing to an extent is healthy - believing politicians too much leads you to a Trump-like cult. 

That’s what I meant by that. 

I see the Democrats for what they are. A choice that is better than Republicans but riddled with issues and the only reason I vote for them is because this is two-choice system. 

If the US had a system where more than two parties actually had any chance of governing or have representation I probably would not vote for Democrats.

Centrist liberals are in power in the UK and they are hopeless at governing because they have no ideology from which to form a plan of action. 
They have no desired end result and as such cannot articulate a plan to reach one.

The original discussion was differences between Democrats and Republicans and how they affect domestic affairs.
