I literraly screamed when I heard Alice for the first time. This album saved us during the pandemic. The lack of respect is horrendous.

Like a lot of Chromatica, Alice needed a lot more for it to work

Nah it’s great as it is I think, one of the best on the album and deserved to be a single when the 90s dance revival was at its peak. Definitely could’ve been the lead single even.

I think the “problem” with Chromatica in general is that it’s a piano ballad album made into a dance album so there’s lots of bits that are filled with beats and sped up where they would’ve originally been sang much slower and theatrically. Alice is definitely one of those songs.

I am so curious to her Chromatica demos because I am so sure that the Alice we hear now is different from what Gaga had initially sonically in mind.

Ugh what won’t little monsters shade?

Alice is one of the best tracks on Chromatica and should have been the lead. It’s the opener for a reason.

Would I be even happier if it was longer? Sure.
But it’s one of her best for me, literally the kinda song I’ve always wanted from her.

yes definitely!! I think one of things that keep Alice from being like an amazing track for me is the fact it lacks a second verse, I needed more lyrical content!!!

*shallow doesn’t have a second verse either

Shallow literally does have a second verse though, there just isn’t a chorus between the first two verses.

Unfortunately most of Chromatica suffers from this annoying tik tok/streaming trend of compressing songs to being as short as possible for "replay value" or whatever BS.

Alice would've have definitely benefitted from having more room to breathe and expand. Most of the songs would. Although it is still a great song and doesn't suffer from this as much as Free Woman does for example, where the second verse just randomly slows down and the pre-chorus is just turned into the "bridge", losing all momentum of the song. It's lazy and ineffective.

I would personally say that Alice is crying out for elements of psytrance and additional psychedelic details. That would have worked so well.

I'm fine, Ta
