HeAteMyh3art 1,806
Oh my GOD i can't get enough of this song. The production, the vocals, the emotion in the verses The choreo also fits so well and the seizure movements uuufhhhghsji, I'm so glad this didn't stay a MAYHEM reject, imagine what else we will never hear eat, sleep, yaoi, repeat 2 3
theARTVampire 3,729
I came into the video with zero expectations after reading some disappointed reactions. I'm actually quite happy with it. It has the perfect amount of camp and horror and it doesn't take itself too serious.
Celloo Deng 55,215
Love the song, it's super catchy and been stuck in my head all day. Video is cute, I enjoy the dancing and her look, but probably won't re-watch it a lot as it's quite simple. I'm so happy that this is on Spotify along with the deluxe tracks! she/her 👹🖤 | do you see me now?
TheARTPOPball 833
Honestly, the video is everything ive ever wanted from Gaga, i just wish the song was a bit less repetitive Edited September 3 by TheARTPOPball
princedeeblebleble 2,094
Considering the utter negativity and bullshit spilling here, y'all don't deserve any new videos cause you'll always pick **** apart cause it doesn't match y'alls fantasy. The song is great, video is really cool too (yall acting that its as horrible as Million reasons or Stupid Love ffs). Lets just be glad she's trying to keep this era alive and shut the **** up with having a fissy fit about her not using you as the director. 4 1
Godmatica 2,295
Some of you are hating on the chorus, but it’s one of the catchiest and most infectious she’s ever done. I just can’t get it out of my head! The video is funny and creepy — not her best, but I like it 3 1
Red 98,354
I wish I hadn’t seen the MV leak cause it spoiled it for me big time 🤡 If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

She's never done that before. Idk I feel like, again, this is kind of selective memory. She’s been writing hooks that she wants to be viral, standalone lines her whole career (“I’m a free bitch, baby” “I wanna take a ride on your disco stick,” “Hot like Mexico, rejoice”) and I honestly don’t see this has being particularly different. A moment that I felt that way about instantly was the second post-chorus for Abra and the choreo in the MV: clearly crafted with the intention that people would want to recreate it. You can say that Abra was maybe more successful in achieving that seamless combo of being tasteful and being ripe for viral content, but I don’t think it’s fair to single out TDD as uniquely attempting to generate that type of moment when Gaga has already done that with a different vid this era (she even posted multiple videos of herself performing the choreo for Abra outside of the MV on TikTok!). I get the thought of trying to generate viral content might give you the ick, but I think it’s been a hallmark of pop for the past 60 years, but I think that the over saturation of exposure to it via TikTok and social media makes us cringe at it as if it’s something new. Yaaaas Gaga 995
What are your honest thoughts on The Dead Dance. I'll go first. It's probably a 7.5/10 for me. I'm not a fan of the verse. It just doesn't fit the rest of the song for me. I was hoping for something more upbeat where the whole song just feels like a dance. The chorus is much more what I was hoping for. I tend to skip the verse and just go straight to the chorus. My absolute favourite part is when Gaga sings "'Cause when you killed me inside, that's when I came alive, Yeah, the music's gonna bring mе back from death". I feel this should've been the main melody of the chorus and deserves at least another bar/line or whatever you call it. Overall it's a good song and hopefully it can have some viral moments over the Halloween period.

I think your interpretation is right on the money: the idea of using trauma and death as a metaphor for and a way of coping with depression/dissociation and this song being about healing via bringing yourself back from the death of trauma/depression. TBH I also think, as you said, as you get older, playing with the morbidity of death makes it less scary, which is something I’m sure she’s also doing here. I think there's a difference between writing clever hooks that are memorable and strike a chord to LITERALLY writing a lyric that serves as an instruction and a hashtag. Obviously no one knows if that's actually what she intended to do but I think it is a fair opinion to hold when the song is only being released as a follow-up to BM going viral in connection to Wednesday as part of promo for the same series. It really isn't a reach to say that Gaga wrote this song to capture the same virality as that achieved. I just don't get what's so controversial about holding this opinion when it's logical. I actually WANT Gaga to write songs that catch on. I just want them to catch on for their innovativeness and intrigue... not because they include lyrical content DESIGNED to get people sharing content on TikTok. Delulu Rogers 7,479
For me it's just...okay? It feels so forced for tiktok with her centered dancing. Idk. If we got another 3rd single from Mayhem with good visuals maybe I wouldn't care so much but the quality of the video and song are a huge drop for Abra. (obviously not everything can be held to that standard but VIY for the song and GOE for visuals would have been much better follow ups)
elsamars 3,450
It’s…ok. The lyrics are bad. The production is solid. But I feel like if I want dark-disco-thriller song I would just go listen to The Weeknd. Video does the opposite of what it is supposed to be doing, it drags the song down.
