To be honest, your comment that I was reducing the song to nothing more than a hollow marketing ploy (or words to those effect, if not exact) have reminded me that - of course - the song isn't just that. I have become quite fixated on my dislike of the song title and the bridge because I never thought Gaga would try to force virality to such an extent she'd let it influence her writing (which is what I think has happened but could be wrong, obviously). But even then, I recognise the song isn't *just* that. She of course is an artist and will have put a lot of her own experiences and emotions and perspectives into these lyrics - and I should probably focus on that too, alongside my criticisms. I've actually already said that I enjoyed listening to the song - and I will return to it. I just find it difficult to accept the forced nature of it overall.

Has anyone noticed that the intro notes sound like Monument by Robyn?! After a few listens, I am still not getting into the song, better now but I think it's not better than any other song on Mayhem so I would rate this in the last position. Not sure if it's the funk sound that I am not that into, to me it feels like 3 parts of different songs combined into one, which makes it hard for me to listen. Maybe it's not for me, as Shadow of a Man and Zombie Boy are my least fav on Mayhem

It has tons and TONS of elements that make Gaga what she is today, and quite literally the BIGGEST one, “do the dead dance”. Saying that part was shoehorned in to create a dance instruction is basically ignoring Gaga's 20 year-long nuanced songwriting. About 20 songs for her discography would like a word with that user. People need to find more deep and meaningful ways of criticizing a song instead of just saying its "not her" 

Which other Gaga lyrics could 1) be interpreted as a TikTok hashtag or dance challenge, and 2) are featured in a song post-BM going viral in Wednesday? I don't think there are any. So the suggestion that my take on these lyrics could apply to other lyrics doesn't seem right to me.

I get that you’re saying it feels disingenuous to you, but I’m just providing a counterpoint that I actually think it doesn’t really come across that way. I get your original point, I just honestly think it’s kind of unsubstantiated. Also I expressed the disagreement with you because it’s a public forum and having discussions is usually the nature of a public forum. Again, you’re entitled to your opinion, I’m entitled to express that I think it’s a touch reductive 

You can actually hear the “ do the dead dance” echoing everytime the chorus ends, just quieter.

Oof, I was a hater at first saying it’s most likely bull, but then recently saw the light and became a believer 

but seeing the length of the video, well  

maybe she’ll release “the film” at a later date to avoid affecting the streams for TDD
