We got 3 music videos, SNL, a promo tour that was livestreamed for free twice, a Netflix collab, a Roblox collab (lol), acoustic performances, a few good interviews, podcasts, and it's not even over yet JFAD flopping didn't change anything. They might have pushed it a bit but I believe they did everything they had planned for the era. We're never getting BTW levels of promo again, it's just not how the market works anymore. If you think the roll out for Disease, the scrapped Harlequin live performance and the near complete radio silence until Abracadabra was exactly as planned.....well damn. I am one of the loudest on this site when it comes to highlighting that we'll never get BTW levels of promo again - and you'll notice I never said we would in the post you're trying to flame. But it is undeniable that the timings of the launch for this era were designed with JFAD in mind and done on the assumption it was easy oscar bait like it's predecessor and would be a runaway success like it's predecessor. There is zero chance they went into the era being marketed as Gaga's big return on the plan of releasing a lead single with little to no support for it at the end of October. Then near complete radio silence for 3 months. It is beyond clear that they expected Gaga to be everywhere between Nov-Jan on the JFAD awards circuit before moving into Abracadabra at the Grammys in the run out to the album release. We have reason to believe on the basis of the hype stickers that were on Mayhem in almost every major retailer that VIY was a planned single - whether it would have been released in between Disease & Abra as a promo or released like Sour Candy was as promo we don't know but we know it was part of the original plans and clearly aborted late in the day. So yeah. It is plain to see this era's potential (and all eras are frontloaded now) was aborted by JFAD exploding and leading to a major hate train against everyone attached to it.

Yeah, I see where you’re coming from. It does make sense that whatever was planned for October–December probably shifted, since Mayhem was originally announced for 2025. And the Harlequin live performance being scrapped is definitely unfortunate, but I don’t think it was directly tied to the album rollout. From Abracadabra onward though, I feel like most of the rollout has gone pretty much as intended. I honestly don’t think the promo around Disease was ever meant to be much bigger. At this point in her career, Gaga doesn’t seem interested in heavy promo cycles the way she used to be; it feels more like she wants the music itself to take center stage. That’s why I see the “scrapped plans” more as expectations fans had than things that were realistically on the table. Sure, if JFAD had been a huge success we probably would’ve seen her more in the spotlight during awards season. But more how exactly? More interviews, more TikTok content? I don’t really think another single or even talk show performances were ever planned for that time frame. And just to be clear, I’m not trying to flame you at all. I just read the same clues differently and have a different interpretation of what was likely planned.

The production starts of so good, one her best even with the intro and first verse, then it kind of falls flat when the chorus kicks in. There were way better songs on the album. Can't believe we didn't get another single because of ... This We havent had more than 2 official singles for an era since BTW. This era we have had four. I think a little bit of perspective is important. ARTPOP had Applause and DWUW with her giving an ARTPOP film without a single release. Joanne had Million Reasons and Perfect Illusion with two additional videos for the fans without a single release and an ASIB reject released for Coachella without a video. Chromatica had Stupid Love and Rain On Me with 911 as a video for the fans without an official singles release. I find it a bit silly that fans of the ‘Just Dance’, ‘The Cure’, and Chromatica singer are upset by this song. I personally enjoy the track and am happy with it. It’s fun and help keeps the era going. It also adds another dimension to the album with a very fun and dance-y track that still was clearly recorded during the Mayhem recording sessions. Also the line “when you killed me inside that’s when I came alive, the music brought me back from death” perhaps resonates with me on a personal level more than anything else released this era. Looking forward to the video directed by Tim Burton, something we dreamed of for a lot of her career.

I don't even hate it but authentic, it isn't. It's quite possibly THE most contrived song Gaga has ever released; written very intentionally for forced virality (which will never work). I'm 90% sure this won't be a hit because it has no replay value and patronises listeners by giving them a thinly-veiled and inorganic instruction to dance on TikTok ("do the dead dance"). The most contrived song when Sour Candy is right there? And also I feel like the accusation that the inclusion of the “do the dead dance” in the bridge functions *exclusively* for TikTok, as if Gaga has never adopted the role of a quasi-villainess or used those types of spoken interludes in her songs before, is kind of disingenuous. IMO there’s nothing particularly out of character or inauthentic about the song itself. I can’t say I’m obsessed with it, but to act like it’s insulting, patronizing, or hollow marketing in and of itself feels a bridge too far.
