And what's the skill you're using with AI? Writing how badass you want something to look? 'cause you still aint making the visual yourself, AI is stealing from other people's art to create yours.

When Beyonce does that, people defend her at all cost and she's not even using AI :Cautious:

If rich celebs can steal art and go away with it, then we don't need to feel guilty by doing that as well.

My dead bitch of a grandma used to say: "Don't post your nudes online if u don't want people to flishy flooshy on them"

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

And adding to my argument of humans craving technology, the last 100 years are a prime example, we went from sending letters to send instant messages (Telegraphy), we went from traveling weeks by sea to traveling hours by air, we started using computers and then we connected everything with the internet, we crave the next iphone, we crave faster internet speeds, we crave higher quality and I could go on and on and on.

We have this unrelenting pursuit of technology and most people don't even realize it's a core of the human race.

And maybe, just maybe this unrelenting pursuit is what makes us unique in this universe and ultimately be the key to solve the fermi paradox, and yes, in this case we are the aliens, cause that's the only way the human race will ever survive.

Oh my, you all have a lot of energy - it's GGD. I don't think you can change the opinions of people here. For intellectual discussions, maybe try Reddit.:huntyga:

Are you sure? As I read the responses, it seems you are presenting your thoughts nicely in the discussion, and there is a subtle attempt from the non-AI folks to cave in (Not intentionally).

like we can agree it’s a tool but in its current form we should not be using it for the things we are and how we are using it. until we can do better we need to rework AI

Maybe? I'm just voicing opinions I've had for a long time.

And honestly I wish AI didn't mess with art, because we could be having conversations about the pros (drug discovery, personalized treatments, disease diagnosis from medical images, patient monitoring etc etc), instead of arguing about stolen art.

Ok, going a bit off topic and this post will likely piss off many people. :air:

I believe AI is 100% necessary for the continuation of the human race and the solution of the Great Filter.

Now, I'm not saying AI right now is good or even "real" AI, but we are just starting, in the future (say 1000 years from now) I believe the human race will be doomed if we don't have a superior intelligence guiding/aiding us and I believe the human race will go extinct if this doesn't happen (the solution of the great filter).

I've always imagined we've passed the "great filter". We absolutely have the capability right now to become an interstellar species, all but guaranteeing our survival, so it only makes sense to me that we've passed that critical/theoretical bottleneck :music:

Gotta imagine it was the formation of eukaryotic cells or multicellular organisms, not something related to our technology since that's completely within our control.

We don't need no AI! :whitney:

Ain't no way this is a topic that organically came up in a conversation about a hypothetical fanmade/AI generated Garden of Eden video :ladyhaha:

I love it here :ladyhaha:

Maybe, or maybe that's human hubris that could be lethal down the line.:stalkga:

AI only "sees" art. Is seeing stealing? I don't think so... At all times humans got inspired by art that isn't theirs. But there's something interesting about AI: we are in the age of neural engines: AI, once it has processed informations that are used to train it, creates something different, and also unique: it has learnt how to generate, it's completely new material, there's no link between the processed work and the created work.

Inspiration is different :saladga:

A human can look at someone's art and feel something. They incorporate that creation into their very being and the next time they express themselves on a canvas, they may draw from that inspiration and feeling to craft something new that evokes both that feeling and something new.

An AI algorithm studies how a piece of art looks or sounds and then tries to replicate it. Mechanical, as if art is a recipie or a line of code and not the expression of the human experience.

Clankers can't make art, they can only steal what a human has created :neyde:

I just figured one is demonstrably more difficult to accomplish and requires billions of years of trial and error but at this point? We're totally in control of our own destiny :vegas:

It seems to me that if there were some great filter that stops civilizations from rising to type 1 or farther, it would be something outside of those civilizations' control and, likely, an issue before that civilization exists.

If we kill ourselves, it'll be because we're stupid, not because of the theoretical filter :whitney:

I fear we aren't in control though, the dinosaurs are a good reminders as of why.

And while the movie armageddon is a a big guilty pleasure of mine I really don't think we can manage threats like that just yet, not to mention the threats we pose to ourselfs because like you said very well, we'll do it cause we are stupid.

So the work of VFX and CGI artists isn’t real because they didn’t use traditional paint? Wow… by that logic, directors, editors, and musicians who use digital tools aren’t creating either. Creativity isn’t about the medium, it’s about the vision and skill behind it.

Sad.

What.. AI literally does it all for you.

Everything else you mentioned does not.
