But she had hits, she was a good performer, and had a lot of charisma. She was the princess of pop and her influence on pop music is undeniable.

I'm sure Addison would've been nominated had her music sold better. At the end of the day, being a big seller is one of the biggest reasons people are nominated (though of course a few artists are not so famous and still manage to get nominated)

The music is good, but as others have said, I don't think she's much of an artist in the conventional sense. The reaction to her album was very much "oh, this is really good" and not "oh my god, she's the next pop superstar".

Britney is a much much better singer than Addison and a far better performer, but, if I’m being honest, not really the biggest Britney fan either (partially for that reason, tbh).

Last year fortnight won video of the year and it has 156 million views currently. Espresso won song of the year and that has 456 million views. 

If they were rewarding videos with low views then Addison would probably have gotten the nomination.

Although I guess it depends how you approach an artist like Addison. I like her because I like her songs/album and persona, but to me she's just an artist - she doesn't HAVE to be a MPG/Artist at the top of the world. 

Alex Warren, another ex-tiktoker received dozens of noms at this years VMAs is totally unremarkable in all senses of the word, but people aren't giving him hate and criticising him for being 'inauthentic' when Addison does have a clear artistic vision and isn't making christian soccer mom anthems.

I have to agree. I’ve tried to get into her but I just can’t seem to. However when I put it on in the background it does give good vibes, so I like for that. But I don’t get into each of the songs themselves like I do when I’m really into something it’s more of a soothing background.
