MSNBC To Change Their Name After Split With NBC

Later this year, MSNBC will take on a new name: My Source News Opinion World (MS NOW).

This name further underscores our mission: to serve as your destination for breaking news and thoughtful analysis and remain the home for the perspectives that you’ve relied on for nearly 30 years.

For our viewers who have watched us for decades, it may be hard to imagine this network by any other name. We understand. But our promise to you remains as it always has. You know who we are, and what we do.

The same familiar and trusted hosts and journalists who make sense of what is happening in Washington, across the country, and around the world will still be here — whether that’s as you’re having a cup of coffee getting ready for the day ahead, seeking answers during breaking news moments, going deeper on the day’s headlines in the evenings, or discussing the week’s biggest stories on the weekends.

You might be wondering, why is this change happening? As part of our move to a new media company, VERSANT — which also includes CNBC, Golf Channel, GolfNow, and SportsEngine — we’ll no longer be part of NBCUniversal and NBC News. This gives us the freedom to chart our own path forward, and we’re excited about where it’s headed.

Regardless of our name, our commitment to this community remains as strong as it’s ever been and in the months ahead we will unveil new ways to connect with you directly.

We will continue to cover the day’s news, ask the questions that matter most, and share how it impacts you, without fear or favor.

Something is fishy about them including the word “opinion” in their name.  Only if their hand was forced would they do that.

That said, I recommend turning ALL cable news off.  Completely.  If u must get a news fix, just watch the evening news on the big networks and watch your local news.  It’s time we start turning off rage-inducing “news” channels.

Agree. Boomers have been brainwashed for too long to be so scared of the world bc of cable news. It should end with us. The same incentives exist online too sadly.

Everyone is trying to profit/clout chase off our rage… it’s partially why it’s not healthy to be looking at a screen all the time 💔

I mean they are super biased and partisan (like Fox News but for Democrats). At least they now admit it in their name :toofunny:

Side note as a Canadian when I see American News it baffles me. Our National News are actually pretty close to neutral (im not gonna say 100% cuz some individual analysts will show who they may favour to some degree or another but its WAY less than in America). And thats the way News should be

So A.) they are nowhere near as partisan as Fox and B.) the acronym just states that they offer *both* news and opinion journalism, not that their news coverage is all opinion based lmao

You’re right - It was biased before, but now I fear it’ll be super biased ☠️

I mean, in their general coverage isn’t especially biased and their op-ed commentary is like…center-left at best lol. Also, yes it does alter your point because you said it was “Fox News for Democrats” which implies it’s a 1:1 comparison, which wouldn’t be accurate in this case.
