MOT 3,664
Just a few points about this. 1. The interview was recorded last Wednesday before Trump met Putin in Alaska. 2. The video clip is PART of an answer to a question. 3. Clinton's full answer is mainly about how she has been encouraged by what European countries have done, i.e. commitments to increasing their defence spending (which means buying American weapons) and giving more support to Ukraine, and how she hopes this will make for a better relationship with Trump. 4. She doesn't praise Trump and she doesn't use the word 'impressed' at any point. She uses the word 'encouraged' twice. 5. When she talks abour dismissiveness in Trump's first term, it isn't clear whether she's talking about dismissiveness by Trump, by the Europeans or both. Like she needs to get real about the situation instead of trying to find yet another way for Dems to court the mythical middle ground voter who wants a 1960s Republican . That’s the problem. When you say he’s working with them you have to acknowledge that he made the problems worse, too. Doing otherwise is just spin Honestly, when it comes to foreign policy in term 2. He's actually made the problems in relation to Europe better. He's forced the European community to push towards greater defensive independence. And his consistent flip flopping has enabled a situation where we're closer to a realistic peace in Ukraine than we've ever been, a peace deal where Russia withdraws from some regions in return for keeping 2014 gains and accepting Ukraine benefitting from the Nato Article 5. As for tariffs, he's actively pushed nations into establishing greater cooperation and made them start working towards stronger seperation from American markets. He's also established a deal finally allowing the export of Nvidia chips to China, which will undoubtedly lead to greater consumer choice in the global tech industry and cheaper choices in the global tech market. The only place where his foreign policy is terrible, is by actively involving the US in the Israeli led genocide in Gaza. Previous Presidents were content with just arming it. Doesn’t it get exhausting? And y’all sound like crazy q-anon conspiracy theorists mentioning Epstein in this context. Go outside and touch some grass. Trump doesn't deserve a mf thing. And praising him won't change that, just validate MAGA republicans. And it's not a conspiracy when there's plenty of documentation that the Clintons were involved w Epstein. 3 hours ago, Bronco said: Honestly, when it comes to foreign policy in term 2. I got closer w my mom because my dad abused her and I. So does my dad deserve praise for that? No. He's de-stablized economies around the world, including his own. And let's not forget a LARGE portion of the failed COVID response can be directly traced to him in his first term. He's destroyed the belief in science and caused research to stall. His propaganda regarding vaccines has caused a noticable decline in vaccination rates. He opened the door to the rise of White Nationalist and fascist movements across the world (IE AfD). He's antagonized every single minority, including skin tone and nationalities, which hurt foreign relations. He's turned the US into a joke on the world stage. After Trump instigated and de-stablized the Middle East and Asia, making Europe a target, he does not get praise for driving European cooperation. Well I agree on all counts. He’s made everyone else better off than America lmfao like I’m not pro Strong America, to be clear. But Clinton isn’t praising him for these things. She’s saying he’s not as bad as his first term when the reality is for America’s global dominance—which is both his and her goal—he’s awful at it. Now, I approve of that bc all the points you said but I find *her* saying this as though it’s some win for America to curry favor with people disaffected by liberals to be just so disingenuous and fake. Like Hillary Clinton is not looking to accomplish the things you said he’s done with his policies aside from Ukraine. So for her to speak as though what he’s doing is actually helping her policy pov is annoying. It’s in the same realm as the Dems saying they went too hard on trans issues and lost voters. Just constantly trying to seek approval and let the Overton window shift on their policy stances so they can maybe win something. Just such rancid vibes hearing such fakery. but yes I do think especially with Europe, his terribleness making Europe cooperate more and remove themselves from relying on America is better overall but do I think that that’s his doing or the consequence of him? The latter. So I’m hesitant to give him “credit” for that when it’s basically only been in response to how **** he’s been lol if anything I give the credit to Europe’s leaders for standing up and uniting against an antagonizing force (though not too much credit for those like Keir Starmer who sucks)

As for the credit thing - being given credit isn't inherently about good or bad. So I absolutely give him the credit, because his presidency has forced the hand of Europe & Canada at long last. His actions served as the cold bucket of water needed for them to wake up and see the US for the enemy at the gate that it really was. Like, as a result of his actions, the post-war German consensus and European consensus around defence has been completely torn up. And hopefully, its momentum will continue us down the path of greater industrial and agricultural independence. The gays know how to party
