Honestly, she is bigger than a grammy

She should have more than 5 tbh, she should be one of the most awarded artist in that thing

Grammys are around 40% merit, 60 % popularity + connections within the industry.

Wasn't it leaked years ago that Caution was supposed to be an Album of the Year nominee but the 'secret committee' rejected it?

I can understand how she feels.

Rightfully so.

An artist like Mariah Carey shouldn’t only have 5 Grammy’s whilst many other mediocre singers have more.

In my messy era.

And she's right. They used to mean something but all these awards are pointless now imo

"And the Grammy for longest song under 3 minutes by a female artist goes to..."

Also the charts and sales and obsession for success.

All these are part of the bonus and not a definition of success or the art of the artists.

Marketing should be about spreading the music to everyone to enjoy and not about hitting #1 on the charts.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

and yet when she was at her peak she had 100% merit, 100% popularity, and was married to the head of one of the biggest labels in the industry (Sony/Columbia). so you forgot the 25% racism and 25% sexism that also comes into play. :laughga:

Agreed. I find it so cringe, and a bit of a bummer, when artists openly & strategically lean into the charts game. It just feels like... what are you really doing this for?

I understand that more success means more promotion & money from a label etc etc etc, but if Gaga has taught us anything, it's that even the biggest act in the world can be stifled and shafted through their label.

I'd honestly rather hear more of an artist's genuine vision than something strategically made for overall commercial appeal and profitability.
