Actually the idea of applause is kinda about  show business (loving applause from the audience). Isn’t that basically the life of a showgirl? This can’t be coincidental.

I mean, she is VERY calculated with her easter eggs so this wouldn't surprise me at all  and now her liking that tweet makes me feel it was actually part of a bigger plan. 

The thing is: Applause was the last song taylor played on the eras tour before the actual show started. On every single date. So this coincidence really fits the theory of her new album release being "imminent" as it falls right after Applause, again. It's also taylor's 12th album, and she not only matched the announcement with Applause's birthday, but its also august 12th so....

I’ve gotten so used to disappointment after delusionally finding hints and Easter eggs that meant nothing as a Gaga Stan all these years that my baseline is skepticism but I’ll take yall swifties’ words for it that it’s (ap)plausible

Maybe many of you don’t know, but she always showed love for ARTPOP. There was a photoshoot back then where she was blasting to the album while doing it. 
Disregarding political beliefs (which we are not really sure where she stands for, but she still picked a side publicly), and your music taste (which in fact, should be very personal and not forced into you by others), I can’t believe some people here are able to just spend time and fingertips to hate on her just because they’re not into her music or her personality.

This sounds so unhinged - like Taylor really chose Applause for the Eras tour 2 years ago because she looked up the date it was released, and had already decided that’s the date in 2025 she’d release her 12th album??? The 12th anniversary of applause is so random. 
 

Is there a theory saying she chose applause because that song represents the stan war against Katy? That would be more believable to me!

It's really not that unhinged. Taylor's been known to start projects well in advance and work on more than one at a time. It's plausible to me that upon finding inspiration in the rumoured showgirl theme, she used a track she's been known publicly to love, Applause, which is about show business and fame, to tease it.

Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift always showed a lot of respect and support to each other. And it stayed to same since the start.
