When all but one child from the same classroom mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance.

Has anyone seen yet? I just watched yesterday and loved it so much, I'm going back to see it tomorrow. Honestly, one of the best films of 2025, hand down.

What are your thoughts?

I really feel like the movie is about right wing indoctrination and radicalization

I hated it.

The story could have been 30 minutes shorter and had more impact. It wasn’t scary in the slightest, and honestly had a lot of tone issues for me.

There were a few small moments of good - but the trailer is a million times better than the movie.

Like most horror films of today, it has a premise and logline that’s much more interesting than the actual pay off.

Not trying to ruin your experience - I would actually like to know why you enjoyed it so much. Maybe I missed something.

It baffles me this script was bought and produced for $38 million

It's weird because I went in hoping it wasn't going to be involving cults or witchcraft (but deep down I knew it would), however I actually liked the direction it went.

1. The build up and tension throughout the film and not knowing what is going to happen next.

2. The non linear editing with each character having their own chapter and seeing the story from other's perspectives.

3. Aunt Gladys was a very interesting character with an unsettling yet captivating presence that made every scene she was in feel unpredictable and intense.

4. The music and score varied for each scene which was cool.

5. The funny moments and humor. The mix of horror and comedy kept it fresh and entertaining. It was really fun with the audience!

I liked it a lot but I think the 100% reviews were a bit too generous. I don’t like it when they overhype these movies (especially horror) but the story was good, never got bored of it and kept me on the edge from start to finish but maybe because I do love slow burn movies.

I also really loved Barbarian and just a big fan of brand new movies taking a chance to tell a new story, not just sequels.

Weapons has a really nice mix of horror and comedy and the packed theater audience gave it a better experience but would’ve enjoyed it even if it were empty.

It's no longer 100%, but I get you. Overhyping is just a part of promotion. I remember Halloween Kills being the "#1 movie in America" for one week and marketing ran with that during it's theatrical run.

Loved it! Read the script a few months ago and was delighted to see most of the weird stuff made it to the final cut and what was changed were all improvements. Wasn't expecting it to he so funny either. Pleasantly surprised.

This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.

I'm just going to repeat what I said in the Horror thread:

The movie is great. It has some really creepy scenes and good scares. I applaud them for being creative and doing something other than your typical slasher and demonic possession. The plot twist and the reveals are executed really well, and the cast of actors they chose definitely had great moments and I do wish them all to come back and do more horror movies.

I do think the 100% rating is a bit generous (but I am not complaining lol, I would rather creative horror movies like this get 100% than most slop we see in cinemas these days)

That's all. I can't say anything objectively bad about the movie, it's good. It's a solid 4 out of 5 as far as recent horror movies go!

Having said this, definitely go see it! It's a great movie to experience in theatre with friends/other people and watch them react to all the crazy moments :ladyhaha:

Watched it on Thursday and liked it! I went in completely blind because I didn't want to know what to expect, and although the first hour seemed a little slow and pointless, the switching was pretty good.

I did a marathon with Bring Her Back on Wednesday and Weapons the following day: 2025 it's a great year for horror

Horror movie lover here and I found it really mid, especially that a lot of oomfies were raving about it.

I loved the way the story was told by the different characters' pov but the plot was sooooo poor and predictable.

Went to see it yesterday knowing only the premise and I loved it. Reminded me a bit of the atmosphere and themes of Longlegs, the fact that it starts like an investigation and progressively ventures into dark fairytale territory. I really liked the nonlinear structure and thought it was a pretty clever way of uncovering and understanding all the intricacies of the plot while keeping us engaged into wanting to know what would be happening next. Felt like a movie equivalent of a page turner.

Spoiler

I think in the long run, it will be the sort of movie like Sixth Sense where everyone knows the twist, even people who have never see it, and it will be seen as a great modern witch story.

I don't mean to sound overly sensitive, but the only thing that I found questionable was the fact they used an AIDS-related line and gay characters to get laughs. I was very uncomfortable to hear chuckles in the audience during those couple moments, ngl. Disappointing and pretty backwards to see the community still being the butt of a joke in a horror film. Probably would've felt different if the director was part of the community, which I don't believe is the case as far as I'm aware.
