I mean, this has been going on for centuries. Yes its toxic. Feminists in the 60’s, 70’s were slammed for speaking up ahgainst this. Its only until recently that its been branded “empowerment”. Women have been used mostly for their procreation and looks. Its still here, only under the guise of “empowerment”. Most women who perform “xesually” on stage, on video, even a los of p* rn arent feeling xesual at all, they do it because men (actually an audience of them) will like it and will have monetary benefits for the patriarchy/ business.

The issue is who and what you criticise in relation to it. 

Citing Dua Lipa as she did as an example of oversexualised pop singers and criticising women like Dua Lipa is proof that she's not actually doing this from a feminist perspective. 

And tbh, I never for one second thought the highly religious woman who has been married to a member of the Reagan White House team since the 80s is a genuine feminist. 

If she cared about this issue as a feminist she wouldn't be attacking women, she'd be attacking the industry. If she cared about this issue as a feminist, she wouldn't say this when she's doing a media round for a new album. 

Its not feminist to attack women for displaying sexuality, especially when done from a position of visible power over their own sexuality. Its not feminist to attack women because you take issue with a symptom of male dominated fields and society.
