Blade of Grass for sure, and its not that its bad, its just indeed the weakest.

Part of me wants to say Dont Call Tonight but I actually find myself singing it in the back of my head a lot and Ive grown to like it a lot more tbh.

HBDYWM doesnt deserve the hate it gets tbh, this obsession with calling it a Swift song is just weird, Taylor doesnt own catchy simple songs just because she made a career around them -_-, it is ok for Gaga to go for simpler, feel good songs every now and then and she made a great one this time.

And those that said The Beast... thats just bad taste -_-, the song is cinema, one of her most powerful songs ever, just because you cant bop to it doesnt mean its bad -_-

It's a tie between LoveDrug and Don't Call Tonight:

Basic lyrics
Basic production
Basic vocals

They just feel very uninspired

I used to feel that way about Lovedrug too, I actually removed it from my playlist. A few months ago it accidentally came on and I really paid attention to it, I loved it. The vocoder in the background slaps so hard and it would've made the song so much stronger had the vocoder been way more prominent in the chorus.

I love Don’t Call Tonight, but I understand why people are choosing that one.

Blade of Grass on the other hand is integral part of the album. DWAS is the perfect album closer, and without BOG to lead into it, DWAS feels out of place. The gradual closing of The Beast into BOG into DWAS works so well.

Gotta say "Don't Call Tonight". It's cute and not a bad song by any means, but I feel it has no real place on Mayhem and is bonus material at best.

Tho I'd say that the overall final parts of the album really dip in quality. Shadow Of A Man is great but suffers from clumsy production, and The Beast was clearly meant to be this big, grand final statement on Mayhem but is unfortunately timid and sluggish. Gaga's vocals are excellent as usual, but it's in desperate need of more cinematic production; crashing drums, ripping guitar solos, soaring atmospherics etc, maybe even beast-like growling or howling effects??.. for what is arguably the most lyrically 'gothic' song on the album, there's nothing very gothic about the music.

Blade Of Grass is typically humble and dreary like most of Gaga's piano ballads, but again its design and production lets it down imo. It's missing the Lana touch; sweeping and swelling string arrangements and delicate, emotional piano segments, haunting vocal reverb effects. For a love song this meaningful to Gaga you never really feel the love.

I feel the same, the album after Zombieboy becomes a bit generic, feels a bit rushed. Knowing Gaga, she probably focused a lot on the first half but started getting tired after that. She's an Aries after all lol
