It’s an interesting critique, but I think the Internet is vastly overestimating everyone else’s media literacy. Like, vastly. 

And as for her recent voter record registration. Well… it’s a wonder I’m defending her let’s just put it like that. 

I strongly believe this was all calculated.  In my mind i think the possibility of them having the thought “hey this is touching a little on race play… And we only have one ⚪️ girl representing this whole Genetics inspired ad. That highlights that ONE model as having GREAT JEANS (Genes)” 

Then making the decision to not care about the controversy it will produce. I know brands heavily plan their promo. I know some brand believe any type of press is good press. Maybe AE believes they will continue to thrive, not caring about an audience they are alienating.

Good. Boasting about eugenics and blowing dog whistles for nazis in 2025 deserved punishment. We cannot be silent on things like this. It first starts small with something seemingly innocuous, like an ad for jeans, then before you know it fascism has completely taken over and it's 1940's Germany. If anything we aren't talking about it enough

Don't forget the "I have great genes. Mine are blue" as we see a close up of her flashing her blue eyes. It was 100% intentional. For one of a few reasons. 1. they though they could blow a dog whistle to the modern day nazis and think they rest of us wouldn't notice. 2. they wanted to stir up drama intentionally to get press. 3. someone at the advertising company pitched it as something else and got away with slipping their own agenda in. But whichever it was it was on purpose and it was not okay

Number Three is automatically out the window because once the backlash started, they doubled down so that just canceled it out.

I think this is a legit take, insofar as nobody was trying to racist but they knew it'd sound that way and get more clicks.

It wouldn't have been nearly the big thing it was if they didn't talk about it 24/7. This is anecdotal of course, but I didn't hear about it until I saw someone responding to Fox. I'm not saying no liberals were mad about it, I mean, I think it's a racist ad, but it was hardly the most important issue that I would have wanted to focus on in this climate--fox made it a bigger issue because it was a way to distract/profit/and clown on liberals.
