The right-wing doesn’t even TRY to hide the fact that they love to play culture war politics. It overrides any nuanced thought that their brain dead voters might have about corruption and income inequality. Anyone who voted Republicans and does their little white supremacist dog whistles deserve to be ridiculed. 

Acknowledge the fact that we live in a time where more and more people are openly and comfortably calling themselves fascists. 
 

If Sweeney and AE meant no ill intent, they would have backpedaled and apologized for the tone deafness. But what do they do? They double down. You know what that tells me? They know exactly what they’re doing and refuse to “capitulate”.

I definitely don’t think anyone that touched this campaign could spell eugenics. And I don’t mean that as a slight. I just don’t think that **** is on the top of people’s brains unless they’re writing for the Times or mounting a KKK comeback.

It’s an interesting critique, but I think the Internet is vastly overestimating everyone else’s media literacy. Like, vastly.

Yes it matters, everything matters when so few votes can make the difference. Republicans gained huge grounds on Gen Z and many other groups last time thanks to their propaganda, and this scandal is just ammo for that.

It also matters because it just ends up distracting people from more important things, like everything Trump is actually doing today.

Its not about standards or which side insults the other side the hardest, its about being smart, its about not falling for their traps, which we keep on doing over and over again.

Want an example? The day Trump took office this year, he broke the record of Executive orders signed on Day 1, but was anyone talking about that? Nope, all media, reddit, twitter, and everywhere, the only topic was Elon's nazi salute... so, fell right into their trap... got distracted by something minor while the real damage was being done inside the White House. And this applies to like 99% of Trump's statements, he is literally a master in triggering the left, AND HIS FANS KNOW THIS, thats why they dont care about those statements.

Right now, tariffs are getting worse, Trump is half-threatening to go to war with Russia, theres the Epstein situation, and a looooong list of issues like the stuff he is doing to the Department of Education, but what are all social networks talking about? A freaking jeans ad with a bad word play... which like I said, thanks to this scandal, just went massively viral, when barely anyone would have watched or noticed the "nazi message" if it didnt go viral thanks to this.

Im from Mexico, this is the first time Ive ever heard of the AE brand and maybe the second time Ive seen the Sydney Sweeney name, so... yeah, it went viral and reached people it wouldnt have reached in the first place....

I don't think it's the left falling for the trap as much as it is fox news manufacturing this as a scandal. It wouldn't have ever been a thing if they hadn't made it one and said all liberals are mad about it.
