That 40% drop is large but this is also a classic Saturday update.

Morphine Prince

I don’t usually like her music but I really like this song.

Her singing “She got away” for 2 minutes gave me chills.

It most definitely go up on Monday. The question is if it will out peak its debut (which is what she needs for this to be a sustainable hit). Otherwise we’ll be looking at a strong top 5 debut and possibly end up falling out of the top 10 in a few weeks.

Outpeak its debut? I don’t think that is the only thing for a sustainable hit lol. That’s one but plenty of songs just do nicely and are fine at that. Again, nothing about this song or any of hers give the kind of brain fried immediacy I feel like chart people keep saying is “needed”. I don’t really understand the obsession with charts and statistics like…genuinely I’m not getting what the appeal of measuring “success” that way is when nothing in chappell’s career indicates it follows the way yall talk about success. Or look at Beyoncé’s 4. Technically a flop by her standards but she’s made it glue in her discography. I’m just saying success can mean a lot of things these days

This could very well still happen. Excited to see the Monday numbers. I like this song better than The Giver

It’s not the only factor but you can usually tell very quickly if a song will be successful based on its bounce back. Yes, something unhinged and viral can happen later (like Pink Pony Club), but if let’s say, The Subway doesn’t stabilize around 4-5M it’s just bout to go down the charts in a matter of weeks. Its just how the numbers work. But like you said, success can mean a number of things. It can be a less than moderate commercial hit but still be a staple in her discography if she plays the cards well. But number wise, the first few weeks are telling of a songs hold.

Sorry I'm a little ignorant, do we know if this is the lead for her next album? Only asking because it would be great if it had a radio deal to secure the #1 spot on billboard

"Good Luck, Babe!" was the lead. Or as Chappell put it, "the first song of the next chapter". She started writing the album at the end of 2023 and will finish it later this year.
