The correct view is the independent country of Kosovo. Saying Albania isn't very wrong actually because both countries speak the same language and are part of the greater Albania that was unfairly treated when the territories were set up from other countries during World Wars. People from Kosovo also like to say that they are Albanians from Kosovo.
