Not enough hits performed, overly long interludes at 4.30 on average (over half an hour of this nearly 3 hour show was all interludes with Beyonce off-stage), extremely limited dancing for someone whom dancing is apparently a central part of her performance style (most of the dancing was done by the backing dancers and even when she did dance, it wasn't as passionate or energetic), weird nepotism of her daughter as if she was as famous or something (and as if she is as professional as the trained dancers) and barely any crowd interaction except for the beginning and end. Gaga is still the best live performer right now. She can do everything Beyonce does and more. Fans are still stuck on that image of Beyonce in her glory days that doesn't exist anymore. If she's going to charge extortionate prices, you'd think it's because she's getting better but she actually does less than she used to do. By the "same formula" I mean it's the same schtick with every tour. Being presented as a queen/goddess, the same choreography style (shoulder shimmying, hair flipping, hip swirling), same outfits, long cinematic interludes, bringing Jay Z out to perform, etc. The part I said about Pink was a completely separate point. I know Beyonce stays focused on her current album and is putting in less old songs. I just decided to bring up another female singer who people still turn out in droves to see despite doing the same thing over and over and in Pink's case, it's her setlist and her aerial gymnastics. I think in her case, people still show up thinking that at her age, this could be the last time she does this so they'd better see her while they still can. But it just seems like she does greatest hit setlists now. I went to see her live once and that was enough for me. She's talented but once you've seen one live show from her, you've seen them all. I guess I'm just mystified as to why so many people pay to see certain performers live and how much they'll spend to see essentially the same tour over and over or pay to see an artist who isn't as good as they once were. This is exactly why Beyoncé is still the greatest performer: she dances less I agree (it's called having three children, getting older and still recovering from a knee injury btw), but that doesn't mean her performance is less electrifying by any means. Maybe it's a snoozefest for you, but every person i know that actually went, and not just watched clips online, diehards fans and GP alike, were in awe. What her body doesn't allow her to do she makes up for it in staging, charisma, and most importantly singing. She was always an incredible vocalist, but god damn her voice gets better and better with age. She does things with it that I've yet to hear any other pop star do, Gaga included. (And I went to every tour from them two to four times since 2012 for Gaga and 2014 for Bey, so I've heard ans seen what they can both do in person) Also it's very funny to me how every Beyoncé hater uses the "she wants to be seen as a goddess who do she thinks she is!!". Like, again, tell you you didn't went to the show without telling me. Of course she has that aura about her, there's no denying she's a badass. But she's also very funny and goody in subtle ways, get emotional easily... Ask her fans, they'll tell you that she's the best alive, but also she's babygirl lmao And most of all, unlike let's say the OTR tour, the show is NOT about her. But people only see what they want to see when it comes to her, and not what she actually presents, like Gaga. Now what I can agree on, is that the prices are absolutely insane, and no artist should ever charge this much, for sure. But if they do, Gaga and Bey are definitively the only ones who get close to justify it. But again, it's INSANE, for sure. But saying that you're paying to see the same show over and over with BEYONCÉ? It's the same show but she doesn't do as much, it's the same outfits but she had maybe over 200 different outfits on the last two tour alone, you always know what she's going to to, but she always changes the setlist and she focuses on the newest albums with new performances since it's new song? Pick a struggle, I don't know. There will always be fights about which Pop girl is the best, that's just part of Pop culture I guess. Happy for Bey, she deserves all of her success. There's still a lot of levels between basic necessities and saving up a lot and still not being able to see your favorite artist live.
