NewUsername 11,405
As much as I love Beyoncé, records like "X highest grossing" are not the flexes they think they are. And I'm 'happy' I finally see more agreeing on this in this topic. And yes, if you're comparing Beyoncé's and Gaga's tours to some of their peers, the "extra" you pay is in line with what they have to offer, they give the best shows, but it doesn't take away that as "absolute amount", ticket prices have become too high these last couple of years. Beyoncé asked a lot more for CCT than for RWT. Club Renaissance (arguably the most wanted tickets) were 300 and some I think, while more or less the corresponding area for the Cowboy Carter Tour now went for 600 euros. The Chromatica Ball had, imo, still more or less normal/competitive prices for a stadium tour, but The Mayhem Ball is also more expensive. Based on the layout (as I've been avoiding spoilers as much), the surge in price for Golden Circle Early Entry is luckily still worth it and gets you the best tickets.

Nagini 2,427
Why all the hate? If Gaga came out with these numbers we would be celebrating. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it a necessity? No. Is it a luxury to see premium artists? Yes. These numbers are very impressive.

I'm sure many of you feels this anger when u think about how much u spent to see Gaga and maybe there's a little voice that tells you to just sell it and f-ck everything.. I know I'm gonna enjoy the show, but the price was too much and I kinda regret buying the tickets. Congrats Bey I guess, hoard that damned money in your bank, hopefully one day some brave president will tax the sh-t out of you and all the disgusting rich people in America. in all fairness the reason touring is now generating so much money is because streaming and piracy and the internet completely killed the industry's original primary revenue channel (vinyls and cds) so they had to find other ways to squeeze money out. but i agree it's gotten out of hand and when you look at ticket prices just 10 years ago and now it's ridiculous. for the reputation tour you could literally see taylor swift for $70...

Sure she's "colder" than Gaga (but just because she doesn't spend 15 minutes talking between each songs doesn't mean she's not saying anything), but she more than makes up for it with every other aspect of her show. Just like Gaga, it's not just a concert, it's a whole damn movie you're seeing. Of course people will want to see one of the best pop (or country or whatever genre she'll do next) there is. 2 - Same formula WHERE? There was similar elements and references to the RWT, but it was one, extremely intentional, as she's in the middle of a three acts projects, all connected. And two, super enjoyable. The RWT segment had the stadiums ALIVE. I guess you could say that yes, she always serve incredible vocals, has the best video interludes in the business (again, a MOVIE), but that's about it. Laughing at the comparison to P!nk's setlist as well. Either you didn't look at Beyoncé recent setlists, ESPECIALLY the previous two tours, or you're being obtuse on purpose. Hell, even fans want to attend serveral dates because you never know what song she might do out of the blue. Even some of the "classic" hits haven't been performed in years (Single Ladies in 2018, Irreplaceable 2016, If I were a boy 2014) Beyonce being the greatest entertainer alive was maybe true about 10 years ago. She doesn't move about on stage anywhere as much as she used to, she's mostly standing still, walking or sitting when singing now. I watched the entire CC tour and found it to be a total snoozefest. Not enough hits performed, overly long interludes at 4.30 on average (over half an hour of this nearly 3 hour show was all interludes with Beyonce off-stage), extremely limited dancing for someone whom dancing is apparently a central part of her performance style (most of the dancing was done by the backing dancers and even when she did dance, it wasn't as passionate or energetic), weird nepotism of her daughter as if she was as famous or something (and as if she is as professional as the trained dancers) and barely any crowd interaction except for the beginning and end. Gaga is still the best live performer right now. She can do everything Beyonce does and more. Fans are still stuck on that image of Beyonce in her glory days that doesn't exist anymore. If she's going to charge extortionate prices, you'd think it's because she's getting better but she actually does less than she used to do. By the "same formula" I mean it's the same schtick with every tour. Being presented as a queen/goddess, the same choreography style (shoulder shimmying, hair flipping, hip swirling), same outfits, long cinematic interludes, bringing Jay Z out to perform, etc. The part I said about Pink was a completely separate point. I know Beyonce stays focused on her current album and is putting in less old songs. I just decided to bring up another female singer who people still turn out in droves to see despite doing the same thing over and over and in Pink's case, it's her setlist and her aerial gymnastics. I think in her case, people still show up thinking that at her age, this could be the last time she does this so they'd better see her while they still can. But it just seems like she does greatest hit setlists now. I went to see her live once and that was enough for me. She's talented but once you've seen one live show from her, you've seen them all. I guess I'm just mystified as to why so many people pay to see certain performers live and how much they'll spend to see essentially the same tour over and over or pay to see an artist who isn't as good as they once were. 3 3 1

All the points you made about Beyonce I completely agree with. Maybe 10 years ago she was the GOAT, but looking at videos of the RWT and CCT I am just bored. Still even wondering if everything is live, if it is, it sounds over-rehearsed which for me takes away from the experience of seeing someone live. I rather have Gaga noticably doing a note or a run a bit different sometimes, than hearing everything perfectly and wondering if it is real. Hell, even with Celine, Mariah and Whitney in her time you were on the edge of your seat when the big note came. With Beyonce, I have never felt that. In general I think Beyonce is overhyped, and as soon as you say something else you are labeled a racist. For Pink though, even though she might do the same trick every time, or so it seems, here shows are still vulnerable in some way. Yes, she flies around like she has done for 20 years, but there are also intimate moment where you really connect with her. I saw her 2 years ago, and she still ranks as the 2nd best live show I have seen just behind Gagas tours. Better than Taylor, Dua, Harry who I saw live, and better than Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy or whoever of their peers you want to put her up against. 1 1

If CCT is a country tour, so is JWT. And Gaga at least played a guitar wearing a cowboy hat, so that gets 10 extra points which you at least need for a country tour. Heck, even the Eras tour might have been more country than the CCT

RaveMonster 125
Good for her, these numbers are impressive but also a lot of these records are only in place because other artists, specifically Taylor Swift, haven’t reported numbers the way her team does.
