Jennifer Lopez has split from her record label. The singer is now said to be an independent artist, releasing her new single Birthday through a smaller company - Hundred Days Records.

Her 2024 album This Is Me… Now was released under BMG, the same label that represents stars like Kylie Minogue and Rita Ora.

Her deal was reportedly only for one album, and following disappointing sales, both parties agreed to go their separate ways.

A music insider told the outlet: 'Jennifer is obviously massively successful and talented but it's been hard for her to find a label who she is on the same page with.

'After her last album came out, it was decided she wouldn't continue with BMG as it wasn't the success she wanted. 'It only went to No55 in the UK. But her team want to push forward with new music. She has spent a lot of time in the studio this year.'

i feel like she should just stay indie, she has all of the resources and contacts to do it on her own. labels seem to have a big problem when it comes to legacy acts, instead of trying to keep up with new artists they should allow them the freedom to focus on on their art/going for the acclaim route.

She should accept the fact that not one single person is hyped for new JLO music. Do a never ending greatest hits tour, maybe another vegas residency and then call it quits. Nothing wrong with being a throwback girlie if you embrace it.

She should have taken this advice not long after On The Floor, she hasn’t had a hit since

Honestly a Vegas residency would probably be best for her and people would visual an entire greatest hits show since she does have a list of bops

I grew up loving JLo's songs (as she's always been a singles artist versus album artist), but everything that has come to light about the songs not featuring her voice and/or keeping the demo vocals (of someone else) as primary really rubbed me the wrong way. Unfortunately, she's become a laughingstock which is WILD because she was a huge star before.

Imo she should do a stripped down era (if she's serious about longevity) where she really showcases her voice and is really vulnerable with some ballads (work with some huge songwriters). Then move into dance pop or something for the clubs. But who knows what will happen. The 2020s are wild for celebrity downfalls for those that once felt untouchable like Diddy, Katy, etc.

She does have a new musical movie coming out in Oct "Kiss of the Spider Woman" (which is, shockingly enough, produced by Ben Affleck, among others) but chances are it will flop like 95% of movies these days.
