I’ll give it a listen, but so far I have not gotten into her and having a hard time seeing what the hype is.

why does she keep performing new songs and not releasing them for monnnnnths after? Zero hype both times for the actual release.

I was about to be snarky but honestly maybe it’s intentional. She was saying how much she was struggling with fame… maybe this is working in her favor

Pretty standard for indie acts tbh.

Used to be really common for all acts.

Live performances to test out the song reception ahead of a single release or album inclusion.

Never have I see someone do such a horrible release strategy ever. Not even Miley’s album rollout was this bad.

True her whole vibe seems to be that she doesn't really care about success, and that's cool lol.

It's just weird if it's on purpose to dull hype. But I can't imagine it actually takes that long to record a song either. or even a music video. It's certainly a conscious choice to just sit on the song and not release it.

I don't think the GP is hyped about her as an artist or as a person, people loved her 2 hit songs and that's it...

They’re obviously putting a little effort into hyping the singles with these poster campaigns. The Giver spent even more money on billboards, so it’s not like her team doesn’t care at all, they could simply just release the singles with no prerelease hype if they truly wanted to fly under the radar. It’s just strange to me how long they wait in between each release. For someone who has been grinding for years to be a successful singer and whose debut album took more than a year to finally become a hit, I would have thought they would want to capitalize on the success more quickly.  Sabrina’s strategy is the opposite of Chappell’s, she’s already released a deluxe, a new lead single, and announced her next album.

The Giver served a Stupid Love: top 10 debut but then free fell out of existence :air:

I think her career will suffer in the long run due to the lack of music videos and visuals.

She has “iconic” looks but they’re not associated with any one song.

Now this strategy of releasing songs months after being performed makes no sense either.

At least this one has a MV so we’ll see how it does.
