Would have preferred a new title. Never quite understood the hype around Confessions.

Hung Up (obviously), Sorry & Push were the only ones that have stayed with me.

But please god let this album have at least one bop. I know she can do it.

die another day madonna GIF

Im not into her music but Confessions has some great tracks. Get Together is one of her best. Future Lovers, Forbidden Love, Sorry, Hung Up, Push, Isaac.

bad strategy to model it after one of her most iconic records ever. It wont live up to it. Madonna's voice is literally soulless and mechanical now and it's not just a producition issue...

Additionally, I was hoping her styling would be different but she is still stuck with this corsett, dominatrix with glasses aesthetic she's been doing since like 2012...ugh so tired.

I've lost hope. I just enjoy her catalog from her debut up until about 2008...after that everything has been a regression with the occasional little slither of boost in quality here and there. It's tiring

Oh I didn’t know you were a record executive/producer?

You dont have to be an expert or "record producer/executive" to have an opinion.

Of course you don’t.
I’m just insinuating that your opinion doesn’t really hold any value.
She’s at the point in her career now where she doesn’t need to worry about mainstream success. Her last album was one of her most experimental projects - she definitely is more focussed on artistic expression than commercial appeal at this point.
Since the early 2000s she seems to release an experimental-leaning album followed by a dance pop album.
Hell, her remix EP for Ray of light has been charting in places - and all she did was release an unreleased demo from 20 years ago.
It’s Madonna. She’s the best selling female artist of all time.

Love Madonna so much and will keep an open mind about it but these “Part 2” or repeating for nostalgia can either be good or very bad.

William Orbit went from Ray of Light and Music to MDNA, Mirwais went from American Life and Music to Madame X. It’s just a bit scary to set expectations so just keeping an open mind. I do have a good feeling about this one but don’t want to get my hopes up.

Well, the concept of COAD was just spilling some tea on dance tracks. I don't expect it to recreate the sound of the first one. I just expect more tea on more dance tracks. I'm not scared about the music actually, the potential lyrics freak me out. She's got a bit cringey.

Many people, but that has nothing to do with the fact that imo Madonna should act her age and be an adult, and stop acting like she is 25

Why? Who said that? :trollga:

All this ageism discrimination from here... Discriminateds doing discrimination.

If you don't like to see her acting like "25" (whatever's that means) just don't see her, follow your pat. But if you want to disguise your discrimination as opinion... well we have work to do "little monsters"....

Guys, are you living behind the moon?  :icant:This is old news and known since February already

I love the original album and it is Madonna's masterpiece and I'd love a sequel but it will be certainly a challenge to live up to the Grandeur of the first album. Hope she doesn'r rush it and carefully chooses her sounds. Confessions on a Dancefloor is a milestone in pop history and (re-)introduced the dance genre into pop, that later became more popular.

I'm not too concerned about it being rushed tbh

There's been solid rumours in madonna forums that she was writing with Stuart Price since the lead in to the Celebration tour. There were even rumours that some of that material was going to be released mid tour as a surprise.

So at this point they've been working together for at least 2 years. And we still don't seem any closer to a release.

Maybe that is your view. I just cant stand the way she acts. Look at people like Cher, Celine etc. At least they grow. With Madonna it always seems like she still wants to be the bad girl she was when she was 25, and she is not. And that rubs me in the wrong way. Just the way she poses and dresses in those pics, idk. Not my cup of tea

lgbtq+ ppl also rub others the wrong way too, does that mean we have to change just because society/status quo/whatever's considered "normal" expects us to?

Album sequels are so fascinating. At least ARTPOP 2 was rumoured to be b sides recorded at the same time. Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday 2 was barely inspired by the original.

Listening to Pink Friday 2 was genuinely jarring. If it hadn't been titled that way I don't think I'd have disliked it as much because I actually did enjoy a couple of the singles.

It deserved its own concept instead of relying on the Pink Friday branding. Completely cheapened it.

this is cute but i hate the way her vocals are processed nowadays. i recently did a dive into some of her 2000s discography, she sounds so different now.

I feel that's normal and expected as singers get older. I'm sure we'll eventually see current mainstream artists etc use more processing as time goes on. Maybe even Gaga to be honest--historically she hasn't been the best at taking care of her voice with the drinking and smoking over the years. Compared to, say. Ariana who seems very keen on preserving her vocals (I could have sworn she doesn't chew specific types of gum cuz it causes her vocals irritation?? like it's an insane micro-level of vocal care).

The key to vocal processing is doing it right which I'm guessing some of these older artists and their producers fail to do (Mariah especially comes to mind even though she vocally still sounds decent imo).

I don't listen to Madonna enough to tell but I liked Medellin and I think she sounds good despite the obvious vocal processing. Somehow it works well. So if she keeps it up and can truly deliver a Confessions spiritual sequel that would be awesome.

I was just listening to Jump the other day on a random playlist and forgot how amazing that track is.

I never liked that album, never understood why it was considered her masterpiece by so many. But I'm still curious about this release, cause it's Madonna :iamfair:
