Well actually, I guess Disease is not "kitsch" so much as it references kitsch in its horror, doctor/nurse affect (especially with the music video). Well, with the direct zombie/livingdead references in Zombieboy and The Dead Dance, they are definitely top Kitsch on the album, actually. I would agree. It's so different from Gaga's other works. It feels as though it sprung from that unique time in Gaga's life, a one-of-a-kind expression of the moment. I think Joanne gets **** in large part because it feels so different from the rest of her discography. In my mind, it is a deeply honest expression of Gaga's experience at that time, including of course, all the pressures and distortions the industry was putting on her. I just feel that every Gaga album is deeply honest. Even when the songs hide behind overly-smooth production like in Chromatica, that in itself is an expression of where Gaga was at the time. I think maybe that's the core of why I love her --- like me, she cannot help but be aunthentic! Every move she makes is described by her truth and reality.
