Several members of the Beyhive were injured in a subway station stampede following Beyoncé's final night in Atlanta for her ongoing Cowboy Carter tour.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) confirmed that 11 people were injured while leaving the Mercedes-Benz Stadium just after midnight on Tuesday, July 15 following an incident involving an insect.

Police on scene cited a high-pitched scream from a young fan reacting to an insect, per the MARTA spokesperson. The fan, identified only as a 10-year-old, screamed at the sight of a palmetto bug, or ****roach, MARTA police chief Scott Kreher told local outlet 11Alive.

The child then reportedly ran, sparking hysteria on an escalator at the Vine City railway station as passengers crowded onto it. The stampede caused the escalator to speed up before coming to an abrupt halt. One person suffered a broken ankle while seven others were transported to a hospital with cuts and scrapes.

Of all things to freak out over. This is why most establishments have a 9pm curfew for under-18's. I'd like to know what made the escalator speed up, I didn't know it could do that if there was enough intense footfall on it. Imagine having to take time off work with a broken ankle over some hysterical kid. But to be honest, I'm surprised more incidents like this don't happen. Large crowds leaving a stadium can be very intimidating. Getting a train home is crazy after a gig when everyone wants on at the same time and people risk falling between the train and platform. I had a borderline panic attack when I had to do that after Gaga's concerts in London and Birmingham (not looking forward to Manchester either). Though standing toe-to-toe opposite a guy with crazy eyes was arguably scarier than getting squashed getting in.

Thats... a story that happened... Never heard of a human stampede with injuries caused by a bug -_-

Why did everyone panic because of a child screaming?? Did everyone think there was a shooter or something?

Lol I was there. The crowd for like 3 square blocks around the stadium was crazy.

All it takes for a stampede in a situation like that is one person panicking. There have been several times when a stampede was caused by a false alarm. Especially in the US where everyone is programmed to assume that gun violence is imminent.

Hope they are given quick recovery

I attended 3 out of 4 ATL shows, but I got back home with my car.  It's just few blocks away :ororomunroe:
