Love those :diane:

I don't have a preference between indie and AAA though. I just prefer sandbox/open world games with limitless freedom and interactivity.

Fallout is my favorite franchise :tony:

Indie. It has to be a really special (new) AAA title for me to be interested. I really can't think of the last AAA game that I played that isn't at least a decade old.

A mix of both. I like AAA games because they have a lot of open world exploration and high quality visuals, but also like indie because they have interesting concepts, very original stories, and unique visuals.

I don't have a preference. But I feel like the quality and dominance of AAA games in the last 12 months especially has taken a massive hit.

Especially after Veilguard, the majority of games I'm interested in are AAs and indies.

I've made a list of games I like to get an idea, and it seems that I've enjoyed/played with indie games a bit more, although it's hard to really define AAA and indie games, as many of them are in a grey zone. Some of my favorite games are AAA though.

Is it really fair to consider minecraft and rocket league as independent games? I feel like today's people would be bored of Minecraft pre-acquisition by Microsoft tbh. And Rocket League's success and relevance is dependent on tournaments and other large financial backing from Epic Games. I've never heard of like half of these though, and that makes me super curious to check them out. So thank you!

On the most part, triple A games.

I liked some indie games, cos when they're good, they're really good. Wuxh as Balayro or cuphead. And aesthetically many are unique and beautiful looking, but also some are just too simplistic, have no replay value or way too niche. I would mention Neva as one of the example of this.

Hence, I found myself enjoying more AAA games because they have set clear storylines, goals, and all that for me to do.   They even make free roam ones fun to explore.

Honestly, right now, I feel like I prefer AA/indie games way more than AAA games. This mostly has to do with greedy business models and live service models that have been plaguing a lot of AAA titles in recent years. This is not always the case though. Recently, both Nightreign and Death Stranding 2 released and both of them received a lot of praise. And what do both of these games have in common? You get the full game with no added, predatory bullshit.

I preordered Mortal Kombat 1 because I was a massive fan of the franchise and they promised to support the game for years to come. And what did I get? A game with a messy launch and even messier lifespan. They decided to pull support after a year and a half, making it one of the least supported MK titles in recent years.

And sadly, that's what gaming has turned into. Trying to milk the most money while releasing bare-bones games and hopefully some people bite and decide to purchase it. I definitely won't be doing again that any time soon. Right now, I have mostly been replaying older AAA titles with an occasional indie game sprinkled here and there to support smaller business that are absolutely crushing it.

If you are looking for fun indie titles check out Clair Obscure Expedition 33. It will most likely be game of the year and honestly, it deserves it.

Until then, this is Elvira saying unpleasant dreams.

500 hours in Terraria, 150 in Stardew, 100 in Danganronpa, 50 in Cuphead, Celeste, Hollow Knight and so on and so forth. Safe to say Indie games appeal to me more, even if I have over 400 hours in the Persona series (actually changed my life fr)
