Why doesn't Gaga have any opening acts?

As we're gearing up for a new tour, I've been thinking about the wait -- not just until the tour starts, but those long hours standing sweaty in a sea of people, with nothing to do but wait for Gaga to take the stage.

For the last two tours, she hasn’t had any opening acts at all. And the two before that? Let’s just say the openers were... interesting choices, like Lady Starlight. There must be so many new artists ready to take that stage before her. Why do you think she doesn’t use it?

Yeah it's so annoying. By the end of the CBT my back was killing me cause I had been standing for 6 hours :kry: I see these Dula Pi stans having a good time cause they have a pre-show and I know just know we're gonna be like :motherofpuppies:

I can understand it with arena tours, especially as the post covid trend seems to be shows starting 8/8.30 vs 9.

I don't like it as I think it robs new acts of valuable promo.

But it was ridiculous she had none for the Chromatica ball - stadium shows need that continuous energy buildup

Right or atleast blast some Gaga songs through the stadium, that's literally all we need :air:

Yeah the atmosphere was so flat pre-show. Never been to a concert like it.

But if there was an opening act that wouldn't stop your back hurting or how long you were standing for
And so many Mayhem shows are seated only so people can just show up at the time instead of queuing for hours

It feels so weird to me because Gaga has always preached using her platform to promote smaller artists etc but this tour just... nothing. I've literally never head of a major tour with no opening act before. All I can think is it's related to how quickly they threw the tour together. She openly admitted it was rushed. They probably had no time to deal with legal

That being said... we also know that the opera is possibly being retired for Mayhem Ball pt 2. I'm starting to think that the opera from Coachella was never meant to be the Mayhem Ball show, and they're only finalising the real show now. But they used the coachella set as a fill-in so they could bring rush the tour and bring it forward. Remember she said they threw the tour dates together in like 3 weeks or something? It's all a bit weird

Because Gaga mystifies her image, she doesn't associate her name easily with other names to stay distant and premium. It's a smart move

if she decided to have opening acts, id love eli to open :vegas:

i've obsessed with her lately, shes so creative and has such an ear for melodies and seems to genuinely love pop music so it would be cool to see her on a big stage

Michael is going to open for her next time :vegas:

but it really would've helped for Chromatica Ball...it felt really long getting into the pit at like 6pm and you knew you were going to be in there another 2+ hours with nothing happening and everyone pretty much cramped up together. We could've really used some adrenaline :laughga:

It's one of the only things I don't like about seeing her live, which is my fav thing in the world. The Chromatica Ball wait was brutal.

I feel as an astablised, iconic artist it would be great if she would share her stage again with lesser known acts, whatever genre. It's really a shame that she doesn't. Maybe she doesn't want any distractions from her show. Maybe she doesn't want a full band and crew touring with her. If that's the case, she can have a local opener. Or do some type of immersive art experience with a dj set or anything.

Back in the day with Semi Precious Weapons and the Darkness opening there was so much more energy in the building, even though much of the audience clearly didn't enjoy rock music like that.

During Joanne she played 5ft2, which made the wait a bit more enjoyable. But since then it's a very boring and annoying wait.

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

Tbf its not uncommon for opening acts to be selected months after the tour is confirmed.

And she's not alone in being a major act without a support act - at least for arena sized gigs.

I mean Kylie in the UK has basically just used DJs and so has Madonna for arena gigs.

Honestly I think now it may be a cost factor dictating whether smaller acts can afford to tour.
