Is it realistic for everyone to go full no-contact with all people that voted for Trump? No.

There's a difference between not cutting off your family and not hanging out with Jason Aldeen tbf.

high culture

Not saying I support these people, but demonizing "the other side" is how we got where we are today. We need to build community and coalition. If we tell republicans they are evil and stupid, they will hate us even more and nothing will get better.

Here's a link about one of the guys in the picture admitting he threatened to rape a girl if she pressed charges against him

"When reports of the sexual assault first surfaced, two University football players reported to police that Gibbons’s roommate, fellow football player Taylor Lewan, threatened to rape the victim again if she pressed charges. Lewan admitted these threats to the police who later notified the University. No action was taken against Lewan"

He was, I unbanned him :icant:

This site would be boring asf if we all had the same opinions. I've had some good conversations with @faysalaaa, he's got a good heart :diane:

But just like I'm a little more rough around the edges than a lot of you 'cause I grew up in a deeply conservative area and in a very religious family, he grew up somewhere even more crazy and came out with different values.

If we banned everyone who would we debate?! :grr:

Thank you! And ive been trying my best for a while to change how I engage with people here and to avoid controversial subjects, and alot of members who used to complain about me noticed, and now we are friends. Today I went into debate mode a bit but very carefully lol

*Not a Taylor fan here and would never go to Aldean's bar (ew)

But just a reminder that Gaga's dad is MAGA, would we cancel Gaga for going to Joanne Trattoria or associating herself with that? Just a Q.

family can't be chosen, friends are

mother, what must i do?

Pursuing ethical consumption is about making sensible and a reasonable choices about where you support/shop etc and acknowledging that while we are constrained by circumstance we can still aim for the best possible.

So the difference is pretty simple - there are plenty of alternative bars with alternative values and cultures.

Meanwhile with supermarket grocery shopping the alternatives are harder to access.

Therefore, it is far more reasonable to not support a bar which doesn't align with your values than it is to avoid shopping at Walmart when the alternative choices are either no better or less accessible.

People mostly go to bars by random choice based on their location and easy access. And people are usually not loyal to one bar, they go to any bar available to them at the moment. They are also going in a state of mind of having fun, they wont think about a bars values.

To bring it back to Taylor, do you think when Travis asked Taylor to support him by coming to a private party, she asks about the bar, and who owns it, and the guest list? (none of us know, we are all making assumptions)

Maybe she's not MAGA but she's sure comfortable spending A LOT of her free time willingly around people who are

I mean it's Taylor Swift. She knows who Jason Aldean is. She's from the country music scene, its not like he's a random of the last 5 minutes. And also considering she has numerous stalkers and has permanent hired security - she'd absolutely ask what the venue is.

As for Travis - it was a private party for a tv show he co-hosts. Do you think he had zero involvement in the party's organisation? Do you think anyone involved in the organisation of the party had zero idea who Jason Aldean is considering he's a major name in the american country scene and is 20 years into his career?

This isnt a case of turning up to a random bar with no prior thought.

Oh lord here we go again, you always love to quote me and come after me for simply expressing my thoughts and my opinions. Nobody sat here and went through a full itemization around every company thriving off moral bankruptcy. This thread was calling out one celebrity associating herself with a crowd that is known to be tied to a very violent fascist regime here in the United States. I love how every person commenting about getting over it and "who cares" honestly thinks that MAGA is some happy go lucky camp group. These are people that would literally, LITERALLY, go above and beyond to ensure that anyone who isn't a straight white male Christian is further ostracized, if not worse. We are having political assassinations taking place in the name of MAGA (look up what just happened in Minnesota last week) and everyone wants to sit here and pretend that having friends or acquaintances who voted for Trump isn't that big of a deal.

We have bounty hunters literally chasing down undocumented immigrants like animals pretending to be federal officers, shipping them off to God knows where and you and like 4 other people want to sit here and lecture me about these principles. What it sounds to me is ignorance is showing in full force. You all come down here and interact with them. It doesn't matter if you go to a bar with known MAGA ties peacefully and try to fit in. They will never accept anyone who isn't a white, straight, male. Some of ya'll sit here and pretend as if all of this is supposed to be normal and it's not. This a cult that wants to see people of color marginalized, LGBTQ+ people murdered and extinguished for simply existing, the gut-wrenching assault on Trans people all over the nation, hunting down Latinos and making examples out of us, but sure I'm the asshole for saying that going to a "MAGA" bar or a bar with "MAGA" ties is a problem.

I also just expressed my thought an opinions. I wrote a short paragraph why i disagreed, u wrote back an angry long essay. That sounds a bit hypocritical to say im the one all up ur opinons :rip:

Ur argument is they are terrible and stand for terrible things

My argument is many other companies have associations with things that are also absolutely terrible but are just not getting as much political attention (also because its not for things happening to peoppe im America)

So my viewpoint is just as valid imo
