An unfortunate part of that is when our ancestors, black or white, basically cleared out an entire continent.

It feels like she's just wanting to look at the "we built this country" and yadda yadda the details.

I definitely don't think this is a message she actively supports. She either didn't read the text or didn't understand the implications, like you said. But given a lot of her politics are against slavery and oppression, she probably would not be dismissive of Native Americans defending their lands. It's an unfortunate misstep in a carefully-curated career and I'm sure she's probably firing her stylist as we speak.  This reminds me of the time Taylor Swift said she wanted to live in 1830 "but without all the racists", as a tone-deaf and ignorant moment that wasn't necessarily malicious. It's also text written on the back of her tee-shirt which she didn't expect or intend people to read in concert (seriously, no one could read that during the show lol), so I'm guessing the person who posted the close-up only probably is the one who shouldn't have done that.

I mean she was wearing a coat and then her hair was literally covering the back. I'm guessing she liked the shirt and figured no one would see the back. So a photographer might be the one getting fired  Or the website team.

Nah this is gross. I've read in depth everything on my shirts if I've ever felt they could be taken in a weird way. I know everyone is different, but come on. This isn't okay. I understand she is trying to go far back with the cowboy theme to make a point about black history, but this ain't it.

EDIT: Okay with her creole heritage I can kind of get why she would be okay with this, but in this era? I don't know.

The shirt fully fits the aesthetic and branding of the Cowboy Carter era and that was probably about as much effort as was put into it. I think, like the Sabrina Carpenter album cover, its one of those moments where they've ****ed the landing. 

What I think we should be criticising is the responses to people posting this and criticising it - the amount of folksactively engaging in racism to defend Beyoncé is the real issue here.

Like I get what CC is trying to do - but I feel like it's just not landing. Same as Born in the USA etc. It's just too easy for folks on the right in America to completely weaponise patriotism so that any reference to it is absorbed into their world even if it tries to rally against it.

Isn't it more the "ennemies of peace" part that is bashed here rather than the dated term to describe them tho?

If she wanted to show a part of US history black people get erased from in textbooks she's right but too bad it includes a term that's so sadly ironic for a massacred group.
