If you want to contribute to the conversation in a positive way then do that, but you’re intentionally trying to stir up arguments by making irrelevant, inappropriate, and inaccurate statements, BUT at the same time these threads (made by the same account 99.9% of the time) are made to cause chaos and draw in users like you anyway so what does any of it matter anymore?

I know y'all love to claim that all your outdated racial mindsets are actually just the USA being sensitive, but it was already considered pejorative in the early 20th century and was also considered not such a great term in Europe either. Here's a link to an academic paper with some sources giving a little overview of the matter if you care to learn more about why we grew out of using "Orient" to describe Asian people instead of just brushing off widely recognized insensitivities.

I think it's quite unfair to compare a song from 2011, made in a different world context and with less ethnic and racial literacy, with an ethnic controversy happening in 2025. I’m positive Beyoncé does not agree with what is written, it's obvious that she would do things differently if she had read the text - if not for ethical, moral and humanitarian reasons (which I believe she has), then at least to protect her own image.

While the term is not inherently racist, and as you well pointed it can refer to an ethnic denomination in Bolivia, it can be used in a derogatory way. I think context and tone are always important to understand if the term is being used pejoratively or not.

I wouldn’t even think of that word as an insult here in Mexico. White Mexicans like to use other words… let’s just say that. 

Idk about Mexican-Americans or people from northern states but most of us would not think of it as a slur.
