thx for checking ! i'm still dubious on how they acquire their data, since it isn't officially published by spotify itself. Also not to be that bitch but Beyoncé and Gaga are neck and neck in total streaming numbers currently so everything last pop icon was sharing kind of loses a lot of weight when resituated in the actual context.

Just like any of us would check it. By using numbers from day 2 - day 1 (if it has 9M now and it had 5M yesterday it did 4M). They're just a website dedicated to stats so they have everything in a website, AM and iTunes updates and everything. They're the most reliable source there is lol

but spotify doesn't necessarily publish daily data for every song in their catalog though

Spotify updates its unfiltered streams daily on the app, they post the filtered on another website but that only considers Top 200 of every country + Global so yeah, they don't publish but they're updated.

I feel like I've seen the "Beyonce vs Gaga" debate a million times and Idgi honestly. They're both so iconic.

Gaga's a bit of a streaming darling atm, especially with Bruno's song netting her 4 million streams a day and several hits getting over that million mark.

Bey's streams have slumped a bit but it's still beyond respectable. She's sitting at 31 rn on Spotify which is higher than Gaga used to sit (upper 40s).

Literally the 31st most streamed artist, alive or dead. Imagine shading someone for that.

They've both sold ~40 million albums (200 million+ records total for Bey, 124 million for Gaga).

Both highly influential.

And it's weird to compare Gaga's second most successful era to one of Beyoncé's weakest. It'd be like comparing Sasha Fierce and Joanne then calling Gaga a flop as she sells out venues and wins major awards

Two of the most successful figures in entertainment history by every metric imaginable.

ah yes, because nothing screams feminism and maturity more than punishing a woman for the actions of random people who are not her.  if anything I actually think Beyoncé benefitted more from Telephone than Gaga in 2010, but that in 2025 it would be the reverse kind of. Their careers are very different and because Beyoncé focused more on music and touring when Gaga focused on film and jazz albums as well, it changed their trajectories and positions within the GP collective mindsets imo.
